We had a late last minute meal for 11 of us after a long long day moving house!!

The guys at market cross were able to squeeze us in and were so helpful and accommodating!

Food was delivered promptly and very tasty! Even catered for my very fussy children nothing was too much trouble.

Fab atmosphere and loved the banter with the owners they even threw In a bottle of Prosecco after hearing about the day we had all had!

Would definitely recommend this place to all! And we will be back.

It all seemed to go wrong from the start. Arriving for our pre-booked table we were not listed. However as the restaurant was half empty this was not a problem as they soon found us a table. We ordered our drinks and when they arrived the Diet Pepsi-Max was flat. So we returned it, and was served another glass just as flat! Two bottles were substituted which turned out to be ordinary and not diet! We ordered our meals and as a party of four we ordered three carveries and one gammon steak. We were told that we would be informed when to go for our carveries when the gammon steak arrived. However when it arrived we were given no instruction to go, so we went on our own initiative. The Carvery meals were poor. The turkey was like rubber, almost as if it had been boiled rather than roasted. The vegtables seemed overcooked, and when we got to the sauces, there was hardly any left. The gammon steak was just about cooked and very fatty. The condiments on the table were empty, and after checking three tables we managed to aquire some salt! We then ordered some puddings, which took 25 minutes to arrive! Overall we were very dissapointed with our visit, and feel that the Market Cross has gone down in our opinion since our last visit. Perhaps that is why the restaurant wasnt very busy for a Saturday Lunch time.

Thanks for your review Andy, Unfortunately when you book online there may be at times a technical issue that doesnt show up our end, but we got you a table straight away as you know.
There was an issue with the Pepsi max, but at the time we were told you would like two bottles of pepsi as a replacement, so thats what we gave you, we didnt know you wanted diet as some guests only have the pepsi max as its refill. we csan only appoligise for the issues with salt etc as guests do take them outside but we will certainly be looking into the wait time you mentioned on desserts getting to you, we appologise for the delay

I had stopped going here as had a few disappointing visits but this is now under new management so we decided to give it another try!

12 of us ate here tonight and the food was great, carvery vegetables and meat were replaced regularly, great service and friendly staff.

I am really pleased I gave this another chance and will be visiting again soon.

Thank you
