Which ever way you look at it it's a very long walk...... Hadn't expected such a hike but thoroughly enjoyed it all the same but the weather was glorious.
Sadly the warm weather meant that most of the animals had gone to ground or where hiding in the bushes but that's what you get with nearly ethical zoos.
I totally see why families would love this place. Very informative talks on many of the animals e.g sea lions, penguins, birds. Then there the play areas and train.
Downside the signage is just dreadful.... Best to just wander as the maps don't necessarily match the routes and think the kids must have been having fun on trick or treat with the signposts. Also the food on offer is pretty rubbish.. Bring your own... Great for a picnic on a sunny day.
Not a patch on the artis zoo in Amsterdam which bizarrely I scored lower maybe I need to reconsider.
If I lived locally would definitely keep coming back... But sadly wouldn't go out of my way to return

We went on Sunday 1st September with 4 kids & 3 adults so entry cost seemed steep but no more than what we would've paid to get into London Zoo. We had a blast! Good job we took our own lunch otherwise it would've been far too expensive to feed 7 of us. 4 ice creams & a chocolate bar cost £10!!!! I'd definitely recommend going on the train, although its an extra cost it was brilliant & the kids loved it! It's a brilliant zoo, plenty of space & is clean. There were lots of wasps about but we didn't have any problems with them. I think it's a bit silly that the zoo charges £4 for you to use the external car park, considering the price of entry it should be free! We had a lovely day & it is somewhere I'd definitely take my kids back to (once we've saved for the entry cost lol)

We had a great day out at the zoo. It seemed a little expensive but it was definitely worth it. We watched a fun Sealion show, an amazing Elephant show (which I have never seen before) and a wonderful bird show with storks and macaws flying over our heads. The zoo is quite big so wear comfy shoes. You could take the car in for an extra price but we didn't and I don't think we needed to either.

The zoo itself cannot be faulted. There are activities going on all day: free talks, demonstrations, feeding etc. The animals are well-tended in spacious surroundings, and it's as good as it can get for captive animals (although it is sometimes difficult to get a close view).
There is a free bus for those less mobile to get around the zoo.
The prices are high, as elsewhere for this type of attraction; but the numbers there proved that they can get away with it! To take your car inside the zoo is an extra £20 on top of admission charges, & even to park in the scruffy, field car park (where car thieves abound, according to the notices) is an extra £4.
Beware - a family ticket CANNOT be purchased at the entrance, as they are only available on-line (an irritating point!). However you can elect to forgo the 10% extra charge, that I did in protest of the former point - note that you are not asked when purchasing.
Take your own picnic as the choice of food available is poor; but you are not allowed to go out & re-enter, so you need light food or strong arms.
A great day out with children, but expect a very light wallet when you leave!
