“NEVER AGAIN”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

We stayed over easter, the noise started after midnight from room next door, they were obviously drunk or high and they had to be shown to their room by a member of staff. After she had left the row started between the couple, foul language, shouting carried on for about half an hour until one of them passed out. Thats what you get for paying about £20. Never again.

Room Tip: book early and stay at a travelodge for similar cost.

Not a bad hotel with comfy beds and relative cleanliness although a bit tired we thought the value was excellent at £45 for a family room including breakfast - that was until we went down for breakfast and was told it wasn't included! So it would have been cheaper and nicer to stay elsewhere that included breakfast. We were then told that as we had booked through booking.com (even though they had no record of it) and even though I called the hotel direct and made the booking and paid over the phone (a direct booking would have included breakfast although who knows when it came down to it) we were to get no breakfast!! Very disappointed with the overall attitude of staff and the breakfast wasn't worth the£6.49 definitely will not stay here again.

single room £20 from laterooms I thought would be a great deal but when i got here breakfast woul dhave been free if booked direct. the room is terrible i had to fix the curtain, TV has sample adverts all over from purchase not installed properly. mould and leaking toilet. Shower plug is disgusting and the room has lots of light coming through the edge of the curtains.

Overall disgusting stay.

Wifi is free but is should be in this age.

This is a budget hotel which attracts business travelers and contractors during the week so don’t expect any frills! The rooms are basic but have an adequate bathroom and satellite TV; Wi-Fi is free of charge. The hotel is part of the Highwayman pub which is a Hungary Horse family friendly pub/restaurant, the food is OK and is not gourmet by any means. There are other places to eat locally including Indian and Chinese but some places will require a car to reach them. If you want a cheap place to just to sleep then this is the place if you are looking for a romantic getaway then I probably advise to look somewhere else. I have stayed here quite a lot on business and it suits my needs.

We regularly visit the Highwayman for drinks and food, as live locally.

Staff are always pleasant and polite and service is swift.

Huge menu, so plenty of choice and it's good value for money. Daily specials also.

Plenty of entertainment at the weekends (Friday night's Rock and Roll bingo is a good laugh!)

One tip I would add though if you like your steak medium, order it rare - if you order the steak sizzler, order it "blue" as it continues to cook on the skillet once served, so can be overdone.

Room Tip: have not stayed in the hotel part, review is based just on the service and food in the Highwayman.

The Highwayman was on budget and conveniently located. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The room was a reasonable size with the usual accessories associated with a budget hotel...tv, tea making etc with the added bonus of free wi-fi. The shower however was a disaster zone. I had to add some cable ties to the broken fittings to facilitate any kind of reasonable washing arrangement. When I did get it to work the rattle and hum from the plumbing must have disturbed many other residents. I mentioned this to the reception twice but they were unconcerned and did nothing to fix the problem. I left the cable ties to hopefully assist the next guest in room 40.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a working shower!

I would defiantly say my stay was above average. Considering the price it is not bad at all. After reading many of the reviews on here i thought it was going to be very bad. There was no peeling wall paper... The toilets don't come of the wall... I did not see one mouse trap... It was not noisy and the staff were very polite. The carpets are slightly stained and in the kids room there was a little bit of mold in the bathroom but to be honest £35 a night. You can't complain! All in all i had a enjoyable stay.
