We stayed here mid feb due to house hunting in and around Hertfordshire and really couldn't fault a thing. Great value, superb rooms and the staff really were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed with our 20 mnth old twins and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome. We had room service due to the little ones and the food was fantastic too. Overall I would highly recommend and rate this little gem of a hotel. I am sure we will be returning as we continue our house hunting.

We stay at this hotel once a year; excellent service and value for money. This is a hotel that is investing money, you can see improvements every year. Having said improvements, it is a good hotel to start with, the investment is not dealing with issues but making improvements for its guests.

Breakfast: excellent ingredients; well done on this point. I often resent the cost of breakfast but again good value.

We visit once a year for a friends birthday; this very good hotel adds a very nice touch to the weekend.

If this is read by the hotel manager; big Thank You to your ever friendly and helpful reception team.

We were really impressed when we arrived at the old palace lodge, they were really busy with lots of people eating and drinking but every member of staff (about 7 in all) that saw us come in said a smiley hello..really friendly staff.. The room was a lovely size with a large bathroom all spotlessly clean..a really comfy bed and plenty of tea coffee and hot chocolate supplies..even a little packet of sweeties..quite something we thought...Our TV didnt seem to want to play ball so we rang the front desk just to ask what we should try and within minutes there was a fab chap knocking on the door to sort it out..and sort it out he did...great service.. We will definately stay again when in the area..fabulous friendly staff..clean comfy room..perfect just what we look for..

A quality hotel of great character, somewhat strangely located in drab Dunstable. Superior room was very good, warm, comfortable bed just getting to be a tiny bit dated but perfectly OK for a short stay. Staff were all very well trained, extremely helpful and cheerful....delightful change from the usual tepid East Europeans in many hotels. We attended a birthday function with meal and all went very well, food good, waiting staff good and no mess ups on the meal choices, despite the packed restaurant and another large function on the same evening. Prices were very reasonable for a hotel as well-run and comfortable as this. Would not hesitate to highly recommend this gem of a palace !

Room Tip: Superior rooms are very good value and those on the east (Luton) side escape air-con noise

The rooms are ever so slightly tired the place feels like a proper hotel rather than a budget chain of rooms. Staff were very helpful and very polite rooms were more than adequate and nicer than they needed to be. Excellent value for money too. If there is a negative I would say that the fixed shower is to low - but that's being picky.

We stayed here 8th December for one night While attending a christmas party in the town. Our room was advertised as " excecutive " but for us it was like most other rooms in your average hotel, good size bed, flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilitiies. The bathroom was a good size and very clean but was beginning to look dated, that said, the room served our purposes very well and we had no complaints.
We did not eat evening meal here but did have an exceptionally good breakfast, you could have had just about any thing you wanted.

There is not that many hotels to choose from in central Dunstable of this standard (4star). and this hotel has long been regarded as one of the better ones and was very reasonably priced and has always had a good reputation for a fine restaurant and good accomodation and I speak as someone who lived locally for many years

There is a decent sized car park to the rear of the hotel the entrance to which is monitored by CCTV
I would recommend this hotel for its central location and overall it is a fine hotel for a few days stay

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet ask for a room 1st or second floor towards the back of the hotel
