This was our first trip to cardigan, and an absolute pleasure. The accomodations (private room, queen bed) were wonderful, and all the staff were delightful and very helpful. For our first hike of the season we hiked manning to firescrew and cardigan and then continued on to south peak and orange peak. The next day we hiked clark -cardigan-firescrew-manning.

Caridgan lodge is a wonderful retreat for a relaxing weekend, and the sheer granite slabs on the top of cardigan mountain are a wonderful change from the rubble on the top of nearby peaks such as monadnock.

We have come to Cardigan on a regular basis for several years. As a base camp for numerous hikes in the area (our favorite is up the Manning Trail to Firescrew Mountain and then on to Mt. Cardigan) the location cannot be beat.
The hospitality is second to none, with Tom, Natalie, and John providing friendly, personable service and whipping up fantastic meals. This past trip we met the naturalist Rick, who led a terrific morning nature walk. Simply put, this place is a gem! Bravo AMC, and Bravo Tom, Natalie, John, Rick, and everyone who makes Cardigan a special place.

Room Tip: We usually reserve a bunk room for a family group of 4-6 people. Works out well. Bathrooms/showers a...

We love it here. I used to come here every summer as a child. I recently started coming again, and am very glad that I did! The lodge is lovely, the food is tasty, and the staff are friendly. I really recommend coming here. It's great for a weekend away after a busy workweek. That said, they do have WiFi, so you can keep in touch with family. Plan your trip now! :)

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. My husband and I recently stayed there for a February weekend. We snowshoed the back 80 trail up to firescrew and my husband sprained his ankle. When we returned to the hut we were welcomed with a bag of ice, a glass of wine and although we arrived an hour and a half after dinner, they warmed up the dinner for us.

Tom and crew were great with everyone's needs and preferences. This AMC hut provides a down-to-earth private atmosphere yet warm and homy unlike other lodges. They had great freshly made food, group activities and were very caring.

We will be back in summer..

Room Tip: You can choose either bunk beds or private rooms with bathrooms

This AMC facility is run by Tom Fisher who welcomes you like his friend for ever. He puts all his energy into making you feel like this is your home in the woods. He utilizes local ingredients in the fall features freshly pressed apple cider from Cardigan Orchards which is about a mile down the road. The hiking can fill everyones needs from strenuous and long to short and easy. There are self guided nature walks. A large porch which captures the afternoon soon is great for reading or afternoon chatting with friends. The rooms are shared with 3 to 5 other people. They have 2 private rooms.

Room Tip: Bring your friends to share your room

Tom the manager is nice and funny the room was warm and clean and the food was just we needed after a day of hiking.
You don't have to bring anything from home accept from warm cloth...
Even shampoo can be found in the showers.
The only thing that was bad was the noise at night.

love cardigan. like many guests there, I had been going to cardigan when I was a kid, and I'm now bringing my own children. kid-friendly lodge with plenty to do...swim in the pond or hike the mountain or take a less strenuous hike to the falls. service, food is great. if you want to turn the kids on to hiking, take them here. also plenty of challenging hikes with plenty of scrambling for the seasoned climber/hiker. highly recommended for anyone.
