Description: Our restaurant combines gourmet cuisine and friendly service in a tropical garden setting. We work to achieve the perfect balance between fine dining and the casual charm of the Mexican Caribbean. We work hard to create a tapestry of flavor, aroma, color, sound and hospitality - making us a favorite gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. Our restaurant is the place to enjoy great food in a casually elegant palapa atmosphere. Please check our website as hours may change

They were very friendly and accommodating to two vegetarians. The chevre and watermelon salad was awesome. The inside of the restaurant was nice and had a very tropical island atmosphere, but it was REALLY quite hot inside especially for eating the (delicious) entre which was butternut squash ravioli.

Must try the tamarind margaritas!

This is the pot at the end of the rainbow! If your lucky enough to have the chance to dine in this quaint beautiful restaurant on your visit to Xcalak. The menu changes and the choice for the evening is tough. Always a perfect meal. Drinks are pricey. The service is friendly and accommodating. A must on your visit to this sleepy little fishing village.

Nothing like dinner at the Leaky Palapa after a few days holed up in the seclusion of the Coral Garden Inn up North. That such a fine restaurant exists in sleepy Xcalak never ceases to amaze me. Always have to have a dinner or two here.

A somewhat belated review as we last dined here in early March, but better late than never. A confession...we are big LP fans, having eaten here about 30 or so times since they first opened in 2007. This is not a detailed review, but rather an impression of all of our experiences. First the negative: on the occasional off night, about 1 in 10 in our experience, the food is merely very good, a solid 4.5/5. On the other 9 out of 10 nights, it is stupendous, competitive with the very best, including a number of top restaurants in both Montreal and Ottawa, Canada. It is the best restaurant we have encountered in Mexico by far and we have travelled all over the Yucatan. Linda is a gracious, friendly and very helpful hostess and Marla works magic in the kitchen. It is truly amazing what they can do considering the remote location. The new location, just opened in late 2012, is lovely. We can only fully agree with all the other 5 star reviews here and advise, if you are in the Xcalak area, don't miss out on a meal (or 2 or 3) at the LP!

We have been to the Leaky Palapa four times now. Every time has been as excellent! The food is incredible, the service is impeccable and the atmosphere (in the new place) is delightful. I had the scallops two nights in a row because they were amazing! This is a must visit place if you are in the Yucatan. Well worth the drive to get there! Be sure to make a reservation.
