I stayed here with my husband for four nights and we absolutely loved it. We found the staff to be warm and kind and it was nice to be amongst Mayan people while in the Yucatan.

Denis, the owner, treats his staff and his guests like family. He even took us to the market for the day to help him pick out vegetables and meat for lunch one day. We also made tamales in the pib (Mayan underground oven).

The breakfast was amazing and the room was stunning. We stayed in the Jungle Suite and we would recommend it to anyone looking for fancy living in Valladolid!

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Casa Hamaca and we'll definitely be coming back if we have a chance!

Room Tip: The Jungle Suite is the biggest and nicest room, but all rooms are nice.

This is a lovely, clean guesthouse with a beautiful garden and pool. Our room was spotless and brightly decorated. The owner, Denis, is a friendly host that freely shares his knowledge of the country and city. We received wonderful tips on dining, touring, and exploring. The breakfast includes great coffee, Mexican pastries, fruit, and a delicious hot egg dish. We had the Casa Hamaca eggs and like it so much we will be making it at home. Our room had an air conditioner with a fan which was quite nice at night. We loved walking off the property and into the city without needing to drive. Our car was parked in a quiet, private parking area. A wonderful place.

My Wife, Gerry and I just came back from spending a week in Playa De Carmen and 5 days with Denis and His Staff at Casa Hamaca in Valladolid exploring the Interior of Mexico. They were recommended by 2 Canadian Friends who spent 6 months in Mexico, approximately 35 minutes from Valladolid just outside the small town of Quintana Roo, reasonability close to the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itaz and Uxmal. They were extremely attentive to our special needs and went way be on any expectations we had for even a 5/6-Star rated Bed and Breakfast. Knowledge of Mexico, (especially Mayan Histroy), Price, Healthy Food, Clean Rooms, with a Sincere Desire to make our Mexican Stay Safe and Worry Free. Every guest becomes a friend, not a number, and is invited to enjoy the Beautifully Decorated Home and Great Gardens that surround it. If you want to see the real Mexico, please give Denis and His wonderful hard working Staff consideration and the Opportunity to meet you.
Our only disappointment was having to travel Home!!!
Warm Regards,
Gerry Gilbert

Only spent one night here, but found a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, a great room, a well-prepared breakfast with conversation, and good travel tips for the local area. The room was very nice, with lots of space, a great bathroom, and a personal hammock.

My family and I stayed at Casa Hamaca for two nights at the beginning of January, following the many positive reviews. From among lodgings during our weeklong tour in the Yucatan, CH was DEFINITELY the highlight… comfortable and artfully decorated rooms and lounging spaces, beautiful garden and pool (great for kids too), conveniently located in Valladolid, and reasonably priced. Denis is a gem, a wonderful host and font of knowledge of local history and culture. In planning the visit, Denis worked with me to arrange a “special request” traditional Mayan lunch to celebrate my mother’s birthday, which was delicious, unique, and all around fantastic. We really appreciated the extra touch Denis and staff provided!

Casa Hamaca should be at the top of your list when considering places in Valladolid!

I endorse the many positive comments already made about this little gem. Denis is a great host, and a valuable resource for travelers. For example, my wife and I wanted to find a local person to guide us around the region. He introduced us to a young Mayan woman named Nancy. She is an intelligent, knowledgeable and lively person. Whenever we stayed in Valladolid in the past, we always stayed at a well known large hotel on the central plaza. This trip we wanted to try a place that was more intimate and relaxing. Casa Hamaca with its 8 rooms, lush vegetation, and almost yoga-like atmosphere certainly was the right find. We also enjoyed finishing off several bottles of wine with Denis and guests from Germany and Italy. As we told Denis, we had only 2 very small suggestions for improvements: improve the taste of the weak coffee, and get some larger pillows. We definitely plan to stay here again in the near future. It is a perfect place.

Of the few high-quality hotels in Valladolid, I feel the Casa Hamaca has fully earned its numero uno rating. I found its proprietor, Denis Larson, genuine, colorful, delightfully knowledgeable, and painstakingly devoted to ensuring that the three of us would experience a memorable visit to his amazing Casa. Our stay, lasting only one night, was topped off by a scrumptious breakfast of fresh fruit and eggs served to us early the following morning. Denis oversees the Casa Hamaca with the eloquence and savoir faire of a retired British General (which he isn’t). I have to assume he treats his Mayan staff well, in return for their unimpeachable demeanor. When all is said and done, it doesn’t get better than this!
