We loved our time at Casa Hamaca, my only one regret is that I didn't take a photo of breakfast. Denis is a wonderful host and has a very natural knack of bringing everyone together. It might sound cheesy, but it's like the extended family goes off and does their own thing each day and returns at breakfast to catch-up on the previous day's happenings and plans for the day ahead. These memories will stay with me for a long time - just wish I'd captured them along with the 100's of other holiday snaps.

This was the first place we stayed on our very first visit to Mexico - thank you Denis for making such a great start to our trip.

We had a fantastic 4-night stay at Casa Hamaca. The room was very comfortable and the whole hotel grounds are peaceful and relaxing. The bathroom was especially nice with beautiful tile work and lighting, and a perfect shower. In traveling through Mexico, I'm happy to simply have some water…preferably warm, coming out of a weak shower head. I did not expect to have the BEST shower head I've ever used, but that's what we got at Casa Hamaca.

The shower is just one example of the fact that Denis and his staff take care of all the details. My wife and I are working as we travel, so we spent a lot of time in the room and at the hotel. The internet connection was strong and consistent, there are outlets everywhere, and when you need a break, the pool is a delight.

The daily, included breakfasts are great not only because of the delicious food, but it's a chance to meet other guests. We synced up with other guests one day to carpool to Ek Balam one day and it worked out perfectly.

Okay, so the hotel itself is great. But you'll be hard pressed to find a better host than Denis. It's like having a personal tour advisor and Valladolid historian to talk to during your stay. Looking for restaurant options? Denis has you covered. Want to know about bike and running trails? Denis has the answers. Would you like the inside scoop on what to see at Ek Balam? Yep, Denis knows.

I would highly recommend Casa Hamaca for your stay in Valladolid.

If you're staying in this area, then a stay at casa hamaca is a must. Its a home from home b n b but with luxury and a wonderful 'landlord'. The rooms are comfortable and the veranda / pool area ensure that you know you are on holiday. Denis's local knowledge will maximise the enjoyment of your dtay here.

My husband and I, from Cleveland, OH, USA, returned to peaceful Casa Hamaca for the second time, staying four nights Mar 2-5. We had another beautiful room and wonderful breakfasts with Denis and his capable staff. It is also a pleasure to meet a few new guests at breakfast who are from other countries.

We had an unexpected pleasure of attending a local pageant that occurs only a few weeks in the late winter/early spring. Denis told us about it and many guests attended. Mayan families from a dozen surrounding villages enact the life of the Mayan community, using music, acting and dancing, and few words, so there is universal understanding. It is held in a natural amphitheater with up to 250 participants in native colorful dress. Don’t miss it.

I love to cook and have enjoyed learning and replicating Yucatecan cuisine for friends and family here at home. We look forward to our return trip next March.

My family and I (wife and 2 children, ages 4 and 9) just spent 3 nights at the Casa Hamaca Guesthouse in Valladolid. Denis and the staff were great, and the house is beautiful. It is a calm and peaceful place in the heart of bustling Valladolid. We mainly came to visit Chichen Itza but Denis was able to recommend other great family-friendly activities in the area. The breakfast was great everyday, and we appreciated the early service (coffee at 6:30 - NICE). The kids loved the pool, which was a great way to cool off in the afternoons. They keep cold beer and other drinks on hand too, which was a real treat. Overall this was an excellent experience and we highly recommend it. Thanks Denis!

Room Tip: We stayed in the colonial room which had two beds (queens) so was a little tight for our family of 4...

This was a very comfortable, laid back place to stay. It was easy to feel at home. Dennis was very pleasant and helpful. He is very involved with and employes the native Mayans. It felt good to, in some small way, to support his work

Casa Hamaca left us feeling rested and rejuvenated. Denis is like having your own personal tour guide. Great location- everything in Valladolid is within walking distance. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and I love that they each have a different theme and mural. Having our own hammock in the room was a great place to nap or read. The best part of Casa Hamaca was breakfast and the cooking class where we learned how to make panuchos and salbutes from Sophie and Angel. The staff is so attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back! So much better than a vacation in cancun!
