“Ideal location and great value”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Not the easiest of places to find as the map location on TA was not that accurate and you have to be on top of it to see the sign! (I will add a photo to demonstrate). However, once we found it we stayed for 4 nights exploring the area which has a lot to offer.

The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main central plaza and the other main sights of Valladolid. All rooms are air conditioned which work well (if a little noisy). The pool area was nice, but if busy would be a little short of sun beds.

The hotel has no restaurant but there are many interesting places within easy walking distance.

Handy parking area around the back of the hotel.

Good value hotel.

This place could not be more centrally located. Valladolid is perfect for spending an evening prior to visiting Chichen Itza. The accomadations are very simple but perfect for someone traveling on a budget and wanting to be exposed to the more authentic areas in Yucatan. The architecture in the lobby and pool area is beautiful colonial style.

Central location, close to the bus station and main plaza. The staff are friendly and the rooms are basic but comfortable. The pool is a nice size and a very pleasant break when the heat gets too much. A good base for exploring the cenotes and ruins located nearby.

We ended up at Hotel Zaci after not having a reservation when arriving in Valladolid (on top of being exhausted and just ready to take a nap). This hotel was recommended by a local shop owner who suggested it was a nice hotel. We arrived here, found that it was a reasonable price, and settled. Joe and I are generally not particular, but this hotel was not the type of place we wanted to stay. After checking into our room, we realized that all of the lights in the room gave off a strange orange light (as well as the orange window). We paid extra for the air conditioner because we felt like we might not get enough cross breeze without it, but it was a rickety old thing that made crazy noises and didn't allow much sleep. The bed was uncomfortable, and we had a terrible nights rest. We could wait to check out! Try Hotel Colonial Aurora up the road (in the same price range and much nicer).

My two young daughters and I had a great time at Hotel Zaci. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the location cannot be beat. It is just four blocks from the main plaza so you are right in the middle of the city but not on the busiest streets. A bodega right next store has all the food items you might want and there are restaurants and taquerias all around the hotel. We got our money's worth in the pool, for sure. We were in a downstairs room right next to the fountain. Plenty of hot water and the AC worked great. Do yourself a favor, and make a left out of the hotel, go up two blocks and enjoy the quieter plaza. I recommend Casa del Cafe, the small eatery with great sandwiches at the Plaza Candelaria.

I liked Hotel Zaci very much. I was amazed how nice it was (based on what they charge)! I made my reservation online numerous weeks ahead of time. I was a little nervous about it, only because it seemed so cheap to me. But all my fears melted away when I saw the pretty lobby, my very nice & spacious room, and the beautiful & clean pool they have! The location could not be better... a half block from the bus station and less than a 5-minute walk to the zocalo and some great restaurants & other attractions. Overall, a very good choice of hotels in Valladolid. I highly recommend it!

One little tip... don't bother buying bottled water at the reception desk (even though they do sell it). There is a 20-liter bottle of purified water under/beside the staircase that customers can use to fill up their smaller water bottles.

If you are just looking for a place to crash for a couple of nights while you explore Valladolid, Hotel Zaci is a good choice. The hotel is very clean and comfortable albeit pretty basic. The location is very close to the main square and most everything that you would want to do or see in town is within easy walking distance. There is not a lot of tourist info available at the hotel however there is a tourist info centre on the east side of the main square and the town is well signed.

Room Tip: All the rooms face into the courtyard. The ones around the pool might be a little brighter.
