“Very Central Location”

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly, our waiter in the evening Juan was absolutely wonderful.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced for what was provided. The tenderloin steak was excellent as was the chicken breast in orange juice. We asked for baked potatoes on the side which they happily accommodated us. Buffet breakfast had several different kinds of eggs, juice, pancakes, tortillas, beans and fresh fruit.

Only one negative, the beds in our room were too soft. I had bit of a back ache in the morning. However this was a welcomed change compared to a sleepless night before on a rock hard bed. Something in between would be fantastic.

We found everything in the hotel to be very clean.

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel. The front street is noisy.

I have staid in Valladolid several times and always at the Maria de la Luz. The location on the square and near the bus station is perfect, the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, and the ones at the rear are quiet, plenty of hot water, the staff not particularly friendly but helpful enough, the food in the restaurant quite good and economical (though I found the breakfast (sometimes) included in the room rate pretty awful). The hotel meets basic travel needs quite nicely, which is all I require.

Room Tip: Prefer rooms on the 2nd floor, at the back.

We stayed in Maria De La Luz Hotel one night while visiting Valladolid for the near by cenotes and ruins. The staff is friendly and helpful, the location is great(if you dont mind the noise of the downtown traffic), the view of the plaza and church at night are awesome, the food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Located on the central plaza the hotel can be a little noisy (but the town shuts down at 10pm). The building is old and needs a little TLC but the bathroom was newly remodeled and very nice. The bed was uncomfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Maria De La Luz but when we return to Valladolid we will probably look for a hotel that is a block or two off the central plaza. Having a pool to cool off in after a day of exploring ruins was very nice. Roosters living in the hotel was not so nice (if you want to sleep in).

Room Tip: Our room faced the street on the central plaza. If you are a light sleeper ask for on of the rooms i...

Really nice place - I would think 4 stars. Nice rooms, good service, pool, right on central park, great cenote to swim about a 3 block walk, reasonably priced, super delicious breakfast buffet.
This Hotel had everything I needed.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony for a great view of the park or don't get one if you need it super quiet.

This hotel is just a couple of blocks from the ADO bus station. As you come out of the bus station turn left and walk along until you reach a large square. The hotel is just on the corner on the right as you enter the square.
We stayed only one night but found it very comfortable. There are plenty of places nearby for food. We ate out for our evening meal and bought food at a supermarket for breakfast and lunch for the next day.
From here we went to Chitchen Itza. When we first arrived at the bus station we booked the bus for this straight away as it is very popular.

passing by on a return trip from chichen itza on a really hot day, we have been allowed to use the pool which was a good refreshing moment. We had lunch as well at the restaurant with a very good price/quality rate.

We stayed and ate here on our last night of a 2 week driving trip through the Yucatan; it was our stopping point before catching a flight out of Cancun. Sweet little hotel, rooms are anything but fancy, but clean and well attended to. The courtyard was very pretty and the staff very friendly and helpful. Secure underground, free pricing was a great!

We ate twice at the restaurant. The first time planned for breakfast/lunch when we arrived. My SO had the Papadzules and LOVED them, I had the chicken filet, which was very tasty. We wound up there for dinner too as our attempt at La Campanas was a bust (see my review on that restaurant). We were kind of disgusted after that meal, so had the simple hamburguesas...quite delicious.

If you're stopping in Valledolid, make sure to patronize this establishment!

Room Tip: No elevator, so avoid the third floor.
