go swim this cenotes! its like cave swimming, with a hole in the roof that lets in a magical sunbeam. the water feels cold first. but 20min. swim is well doable. and dont mind the small fish, they are super kind to have for company! :)

Swimming in an underground cave with one little window to the outside world, amongst stalactites. Probably best to avoid high days and holidays though as above ground it is a bit of craft stall infested tourist attraction.

In excellent conditions, with its own "internal climate", perfect for swimming! The atmosphere is magic.

We had this huge cenote all to ourselves. A short bike ride away from the center of Valladolid late in the afternoon was a perfect get away to nature. After descending a very steep stairway down into the cave you can swim across the cenote and perch atop a huge bolder to look up at the daylight above and let tiny pedicure fish clean up your toes. Too ticklish at first but I got used to it and my feet felt great afterwards.

Unique cenote inside a cave with cathedral-like ceiling. Excellent for swimming. The one misgiving I have is the absence of showers - with so many bats doing their business as they hang from the ceiling, it would have been nice to rinse off :-)
