When we were in Yucatan, we did some wonderful excursions with Mexigo Tours.
We did a daytour to Rio Lagartos and another to Chichen Itza.

In Rio Lagartos, we enjoyed the boat trip and saw a lot of flamingos and other birds in the nature reserve. We took a mud bath which was a unique experience and had a good lunch in a cosy restaurant. In the afternoon we had a guided tour in Ek Balam. We were pleased to have a real Maya as guide who told us a lot of the architectural place and historical facts. In the evening we visited a local Tequila distillery and ended at the colorful convent in Uayma. It was a very interesting day with a varied program!
The other day we went to Chichen Itza, one of the new Wonders of the World. We arrived on time and so, we avoided the heat and the crowd which arrived when we left. We learned a lot of the mayan traditions and were very impressed by the huge pyramid and the multitude of architectural styles. After the visit we had a refreshing swim in a nice and peaceful cenote. After a good lunch in Izamal, we visited the convent with the large atrium and made a buggy tour through the yellow city and discovered a lot of mayan ruins. It was again a very nice experience!

We can really recommend Mexigo Tours to everybody. Viviana, Toon and Gilberto really want to give you an unforgettable experience. The advantage is that you travel in little groups and you really get a one-to-one approach. Mexigo Tours is situated in a very peaceful city where it’s a pleasure to stay. The bike is also the perfect vehicle to discover the city of Valladolid. It’s safe and easy to find your way (numbered streets). You can rent a bike at Mexigo Tours.

Me and my husband took the bike tour "Go Maya" with Go MexiGo. We wanted to experience the Mayan culture first hand and hence we decided to with their "Go Maya" tour. I contacted them two days back and Toon was very quick in responding to my email. He even allowed us to directly join the tour instead of insisting on a deposit because the dates were too close.

"Go Maya" tour is a unique experience in which you will get to experience the local mayan culture first hand. Vivyanna, our guide for the day, was very knowledgeable with the local history, culture and food. She guided us easily through the streets of Valladolid and she is a small environmentalist on her own :) It was fun hearing all the local stories from her. We swam in local cenotes (cenotes were absolutely breathtaking), made our own torillas, interacted with two local mayan families and even tried to speak a word or two of Mayan language with the help of Vivyanna. She even recommended some places to eat in Izumal for our next day trip. It was a day very well spent. I highly recommend checking out Go MexiGo tours. I am sure you won't regret it.

We found MexiGo Tours to be responsive and wonderful to deal with in setting up our tours. We scheduled GoFlamigo for either Friday or Saturday so it allowed them to fill the tour (3 minimum) which they were able to do for Friday. We traveled by 13 passenger van 1 ½ hours north to Rio Lagartos where the 6 of us plus our guide boarded two boats and headed up river into the nature preserve. The width of the river allowed us intimate contact with many species of birds, the different mangroves in the area, and other things observed in nature (a crock, large termite nests). The Mayan (mud) bath was a hoot. After our return to the docks, we had a nice lunch in Rio Lagartos with a view of the river and the preserve. On to Ek Balam to view the Mayan ruins there, where the Acropolis with the intact stucco façade of the “white house” makes it unique to other ruins. A stop at the former convent of Santo Domingo and a tequila distillery rounded out the day. The return to Valladolid was capped off with a “toast” of Xtabentún (a Mayan liqueur) at MexiGo Tours office. We really enjoyed the variety of different activities that were involved with this tour that exposed us to areas of culture that we might not have ordinarily chosen.

Best tour experience ever. Riding a bike in the the middle of the Yucatan jungle and having homemade tortillas directly from the hands of a Maya lady, is completely priceless. The tour was very informative, like going back to school, only more fun.
Great alternative tour company. >Thank you Viviana and Toon!

My boyfriend and I did the Go Maya tour with Vivianna last week. Vivianna was an excellent tour guide. She was friendly and entertaining. Her tour was also highly informative and we learned so much from the tour. The value was excellent.

The highlight of the tour was the lunch at the Mayan family's house. They were so kind and welcoming and it really felt like we were just dropping in to visit them on an average day. A few days later, we were driving through a different Mayan village. We happened to drive by a tour group doing a similarly advertised tour of a Mayan village. They were on a bus and all of the tourists got off and went to the house which was more like a store full of the usual Mexican trinkets. At this point we realized that during the Mexigo Tour we really came as close as possible to experiencing the Mayan lifestyle.

We also really enjoyed the cenote we visited that was located behind the hacienda. It was by far our favourite cenote that we visited during our trip.

The tour was 35km on bicycle. It was very tiring, even though it was flat for the most part. I would recommend bringing a lot of sunscreen and wearing a hat! If you think 35km is too much, I would try to arrange a different tour if possible because I would recommend this experience to everyone that visits Valladolid.

We were so happy we did this tour. My boyfriend and I somehow miscommunicated and we ended up only bringing a few pesos on the trip by accident. Vivianna was SO nice about it and generously offered to lend us some cash (there was no ATM from about an hour into the tour until the very end!!). She also gave us some amazing restaurant recommendations (Meson del Marques and Conauto).

Thanks, Vivianna and Mexigo Tours!!!
