Casa Italia relaxed us after our visit to Ek Balam and Chichen Itza, before heading back to our Cancun hotel. Located on an active village square in Valladolid, the restaurant was a welcoming tranquil spot. We arrived before 7pm on a Tuesday so explored the neighborhood and waited in the square itself. The community was active, from the hostel on one side, the church with a music group, the library with some kind of exercise class outside... kids running around laughing... completely charming.
Inside the restaurant, the service was warm and welcoming. Pasta, salads, calzone all nicely done. Cozy and interesting atmosphere. Geckos on the ceiling crawling over a quote from Dante. A mexican hipster guy next to us had a cappucino and a nutella pizza for dinner. When we left the chef called "Ciao, Buenos noches"... I wish we had found anything close to this place in Cancun.
