“Great grounds and location”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

There are 2 hotels close to the ruins. The Lodge is the closest hotel (literally across the street). In fact, there are some Mayan ruins in the hotel! This hotel was well maintained and nicely decorated (see my photos). I only stayed a night but wished I had stayed for longer as it was really relaxing and there is really a lot to see at the ruins. The hotel was pricier than typical places (guess why? the location!). Be sure to arrive with plenty of bottles of water, soda, beer, and snacks or else be prepared to pay US tourist prices!

I see that you posted two reviews, covering both hotels we have in Uxmal, and that you loved the Hacienda Uxmal, to which you gave full honors. THANK YOU !
There is no substitute for 340 years of history. The Lodge is built on grounds of the Hacienda, on the land immediately adjacent to the entrance to the temples. It is beautiful, as you attest. We look forward to having you at the Hacienda next time you visit Uxmal. Hasta la vista !

We ate at this restaurant whilst we stayed at Uxmal as it was adjoined to our hotel. It was excellent, the food delicious and good service. The staff were very attentive and always smiling. It was open air, except for the thatched roof, so it was very pleasant. We loved it.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our tour of the yucatan peninsula. We were lucky as the hotel we were supposed to stay at was fully booked so we got upgraded to The Lodge. It is in the most perfect setting ,in the middle of a jungle type forest, so close to the historic site of Uxmal (walking distance) and near to other places we were visiting. Our room was beautiful - very rustic - no glass in the windows, just mesh screens and vertical wooden blinds. There were 2 pools one of which our room overlooked, which we used at the end of each day. We were on half board and food was excellent. Sometimes it was buffet, other times waiter service. The drinks were a bit expensive, but they were certainly good measures!!
We were so pleased to be staying there we wished it could have been for longer.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to be good, all very quiet, except for the jungle birds early in the morning.

A pristine paradise right outside the entrance to historic site of Uxmal. The grounds are well maintained, clean, and the pools terrific. In fact, it is picture perfect. We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed not only the property, but the historic site as well. There is really nothing close by that compares. The food is good, but the overall experience makes everything wonderful. Would highly recommend! If we were ever to be in that part of the world again, or have friends and family that visit, The Lodge would be the place to stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights in January. We had a suite which had an upstairs bedroom with dinky little wooden steps up to it. Jacuzzi in the bathroom with two showers. Balcony with hammock. Views over a second pool, that is not the main one. We had an all inclusive tariff which meant we could help ourselves to the mini bar in the room.

We stayed here as part of a tour of the Yucatan. It is so convenient to visit the ruins of Uxmal as it is within the grounds and only a short walk to the entrance.

Food. Excellent. Huge choice, beautifully cooked. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The head waiter did us a candlelight dinner by the pool on our last night and we had salmon with chocolate, which may sound odd but was totally delicious.

Reception is an outdoor affair, surrounded by metal artworks. The whole place is just jaw dropping. Take at least two nights if you come here. As it was the beginning of January it was very quiet and the people who had booked the Hacienda just down the road were relocated to the Lodge into normal rooms without the all-inclusive tariff.

Room Tip: The suites are obviously nicer but the steps might be a problem for some people.

Stayed there for 1 night in Oct 12 with a friend
I would put 6 stars if I could, this place is simply AMAZING! The most relaxing hotel I have ever stayed in, rooms are huge and amazing, we had a jacuzzi in the bathroom!!! There are 2 giant pools, the hotel is in the middle of the forest, right in front of the ruins... The staff is so nice and helpful (especially Christian in the restaurant). I would go back there without any hesitation!

WOW ! What a fantastic review! Thank you !
We look forward to having you with us again... with new elements to enhance your enjoyment of our Lodge, such as a completely new SPA dedicated to chocolate and the human body, now that the cacao museum is getting ready for opening this summer across the street.

Until we see you again, enjoy safe and happy travels !

I spent 3 days at the Lodge last September and was so glad I did!

If you're a woman traveling alone finding accommodations that make you feel comfortable and at ease is not always easy to do. The staff was more than gracious, the room with it's palapa roof, beautiful and the proximity to the ruins very convenient.

I've travelled through the Yucatan peninsula for over 25 years and find that once you've ventured away from Cancun and Playa del Carmen, you experience the real heart and soul of the area. Don't let the media keep you away from exploring this beautiful area and lovely hotel.

A side note...I wanted to purchase a good quality hammock and a young lady at the hotel suggested I see her mother in Muna. Found a beautifully crafted one for $50 USD. Considering they take about 40 days to make, I think it was very well priced.

Get off the beaten path and spend a few days at The Lodge at Uxmal...you won't regret it!

Your review is one of the most meaningful reviews we have ever had the pleasure of receiving!
That as a single woman, traveling solo, you felt so safe is a testament to the peaceful and loving people of Yucatan, and I am very grateful that you wrote it and shared with the world's traveling community. Than You for helping change the bad image some of the press, ignorant as to Yucatan;s location as it relates to Mexico, have given the entire country, who;s drug related violence is thousands of miles away from us.

...And yes, thank you for everything you mention about your stay with us as well. The Lodge at Uxmal is truly a unique, peaceful enclave in the very heart of Uxmal, the most beautiful mayan temples on earth.

We look forward to having you with us again. Until then, safe and happy travels!
