Bypass this manufactured area which is basically an outdoor mall. For an actual authentic Mexican experiencegrab a taxi outside the port and visit Majahual beach area We went to Tropicante and had a great time relaxing on the beach

Visually nice but narrow sidewalks that travel in a serpentine path so that you pass as many shops as possible. If more than one ship is docked it will be very crowded.

With only 2 ships in port the day we visited, it wasn’t too crowded so it was pleasant but for a much more authentic Mexican experience, find the exit in the back (it’s not easy to find by design) and grab the shuttle (stops a lot) or an $8 5-minute taxi ride to the village of Mahahual and support the locals. Great beach clubs line the beach and plenty of shopping and restaurants.
I found the port to be nice but very touristy and the dolphins were in such a small area that I would never support that kind of exploitation of animals for my entertainment. A snorkel trip allows you to see them in their natural habitat. The cacao and tequila tasting experiences were closed by the time we returned to the port but appeared to be mostly shopping opportunities. I didn’t do the aviary but the flamingos were cool to watch. There are some very nice shops in this port but the prices are higher than Cozumel.

Hello caughpc!

Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review. We are happy to know you had a good time in Mahahual. About our port experiences, Kakaw and Tequila are a fun tour where the history behind cacao and tequila is explained, it is an interactive experience for everybody, we hope you have the time to enjoy them soon with our port pass, that also includes the aviary experience.

It would be a pleasure to be part of your next vacation!

Have a great day!

Nice if there is one ship but it gets very crowded with more ships. We had 5 ships And it was ridiculous! Could hardly move around in the nice shopping area they have.

Had such a great day at Mahahual Beach on Friday January 10, 2020! The Krazy Lobster Beach Club and Grill
was a great place to eat, relax on the lounge chairs, swim and get a $20 USD “ hour” massage! The nachos were delicious and Xavi Altamirano took great care of us! Thank you Manager Mauricio for a great experience and Xavi for making us feel special!
