This was the last excursion on the cruise. It is a distance away from the pier. The roads appeared to be in good condition. Although the roads have a lot of speed bumps. Enjoyed a nice relaxing day. I even got birthday cake and it was yummy. I would definitely come back.

We left our ship a little hard to find the guide and bumpy road, but once you get past that it was wonderful. A very nice lady greeted us upon arrival and we were taken to our own cabana area right on the beach. We had a wonderful time snorkeling, kayaking, and just sitting in the water. One of the guys cut down fresh coconuts and after a few cuts we had a fresh as you can get coconut. My wife loved the fresh coconut water. It was incredibly nice only downfall is that we would have liked to stayed longer :)

Personal attention, terrific food, great price, great drinks and even flowers of Valentne's day. They paid for the transportation to and from the cruise ship. Very concerned about getting us back on time. Cooked us a great lunch of tacos of beef, chicken, fish, and pulled pork. The owners were waiting for us when we arrived. Felt like "Fantasy Island". They had great floating chairs for the water, and the waiter would bring drinks out to you. Kayak and snorkle equipment available. It was all inclusive--no extra charges for anything. Guess they are ready for anything.the owners found out it was someones birthday in our group, they even brought out a home made birthday cake!! Facility ishot huge. Holds about 100 people. Reservations are required and must prepay. They have rain choices--come anyway or cancel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our way too short time at Maya Chan, from the time the first of many bowls of chips, guacamole and Pico de Gaillo was served to us at the beach to some of the best tacos I've ever had to the floaty water chair with built in bottle holder it was all good. The staff was great and would not think of going anyplace else on a Costa Maya port call.Yes the ride in was bumpy and yes you will find prettier beaches in other ports but who cares!

The Maya Chan family run business and great staff made for a very enjoyable day. We had a bit of a walk from the cruise ship to beyond the port built specifically for cruise ships with the usual stalls, restaurants and souvenir shops to find our taxis to paradise. The ride was bumpy but exciting to the resort. Like many others, we were greeted warmly by lots of staff, shown around and taken to our own private piece of beach, complete with comfortable furniture, a day bed with pristine white sheets, hammock chair and swing, Adirondack style seating and lots of shade. Then the drinks, smoothies of every flavor for our 12 year old daughter, fantastic drinks for us and the best ever guacamole and salsa with tortilla chips that was bottom-less....
The weather was warm and sunny but the weather had been rough for weeks in late November before we arrived so the ocean was murky, lots of seaweed at the shore and it was too rough to kayak out to the reef to snorkel.
Regardless, we got into the warm waters in our floating chairs, complete with ocean side bar service.....and enjoyed the soft waves.
Although several taxis arrived with people from our cruise ship, the property never felt busy, the couple in the Palapa next to us managed to nap during our visit....truly relaxing, peaceful and calm environment. We felt comfortable, truly welcome and safe our entire stay. Lunch was awesome, the best sea bass I have ever had, steak, chicken and pork fahitas, delicious sides and lots for everyone.
I don't think an hour passed by without several visits by staff, just checking in with us to ensure we had everything we desired and more. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his massage and I enjoyed the whole experience, including our chats with the young angler, who I hoped managed to land that big tarpon...
My daughter will say that she loved the pets, dogs and a cat who she hand fed.......sorry Maya Chan and the delicious smoothies!
On our next western Caribbean cruise we will be sure to book the day at Maya Chan well in advance of our arrival as they do limit the number of people at the property and I think that makes it so special. Perhaps we will get out snorkeling next time......
