“Crazy fun”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

Crazy but in a fun way. The DJ was fun with good dancing. Lots of spring beakers in swim suits but behaving and having fun dancing. Loud and busy.

“Frogs Fans!!!! Costa maya's best beach escape by far!”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Earlier this month I was taking the first of two cruises in the Caribbean as we have done for the last three years. Next month we will do practically the same itinerary with the kids and this year its Spring Break Woop Woop! We like to check out new stuff each time on the first cruise, see whats changed etc before returning with the family and friends.
We were onboard the Carnival glory which was not scheduled to dock in Costa Maya, when we heard about the change, we were so happy. Belize was always a miss match for our tastes and we have loved Costa Maya and studied its growth pre-hurricane Dean and after. Plus, our next cruise on the Carnival Dream calls Costa Maya to finish off the week. As it wasn’t a planned stop, we decided to not book an excursion and just take a walk through town and see what was new.
We took the taxi to the light house and walked the board walk along the sea front. First new thing we noticed was about a dozen small cabanas attached to a small but friendly beach club called Blue Bay. We stopped for a beer and relaxed on a pleasant but empty beach. Most people still chose not to walk as we did and get the taxi straight into the middle of town and they are missing out in my opinion, the beaches between town and the cruise ship are quieter and more relaxing without people trying to sell you stuff you don’t need.
We then walked toward town and could see further development but didn’t know what it was. A few steps further and we felt like we were seeing things! Formerly there was just Tequila beach Club which we didn’t ever stop in. But now, Senor Frogs after opening bars in the port area have invested and extended their interests to the beach. We have been secret Frogs fans for years in Cozumel and Hawai for years. They always treat us like VIPs and make us laugh (and also drunk!), so we were very happy to see them on the board walk outside the port and outside the village.
I always understood that beach front restaurants were not allowed swimming pools but somehow they’ve broken the rules! They have a swim up pool, animation, games and all the stuff you would expect from the franchise with prices much lower than the port area.
We stopped for just a drink then carried on into town but we agreed that we would go back for a while on the return.
The village was much the same as before, a few new small constructions and lots of people offering us Cuban cigars. The 40 canons hotel has enlarged to nearly twice the size but they had someone speaking bad English MCing over the music which we found annoying. We continued to Nohoch kay were they were fully booked but made us space to stay for the best fish Taco Ive ever had and a quick beer. We then turned around and headed back to the swim up pool and some pool games.
The staff in Frogs always make it fun, we should have shares in the merchandise as we are suckers for Tshirt or two… its become a family joke. I recommend that all you Frogs fans out there don’t get stuck in the port, get to the beach. Its spacious and very well built and located away from the hustle and bustle.
We are going back with the kids in early April I am sure it will be one big PARTY!!!!!!
Will also add, in Cozumel, rent a car and get over to Rastas on the other side of the island this was also a great beach day on our trip.

I agree with other reviewers who said it was expensive( for what it is). It's chain, so you don't really get an authentic feel to the food but, it is an easy location to get to if you are on a cruise.
We ended up ordering from Carlos and Charlie's across the pool before getting back on our ship (also a chain but the Corona was only $4.50 USD and Sol was $3.50) . A great deal if you are used to the expensive cruise prices.
This was our second time to this location and Senor Frogs here is pretty much the same Senor Frogs you find anywhere except for the swim up bar. Not really a G-rated scene because between SF and C&C they were doing $1 shots in return for the bartender jiggling the boobs of the patrons (before you think "WooHoo!" please remember many of cruise passengers who partake are in thier 60's and 70's).
At one point while we were relaxing the little boy at the table next to us loudly informed his mom to the fact, "Did you see that lady?? She touched that other lady's boobies, mommy." So, if you have kids be prepared to talk to them afterward about the perils of intoxication.

“Fun place...but food is over priced...but you go there for the fun”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

Wild wild wild place and not for children. Drinks are reasonable, but the waiters antics are definitely hilariously r rated.
Food was over priced but decent.

“Want to get drunk? Go here. If you want service Dont even try this place.”
Reviewed January 19, 2012

OK I will admit that line dancing is not my thing. Nor is conga 'shot' dancing. But I don't mind if others do this. That is unless one of the others happens to be my waiter. We placed our order and watched our waiter join the line dancing, the sexy mama dancing contest, and the conga shot line where everyone was given a shot of something blue. We tried to get our waiters attention, but paying attention to us was the farthest thing from his mind until it was time to get his tip.
The drinks were good, the food average - but we barely had time to get back to ship as we waited for over an hour while our waiter was playing in the booze.
If you want to party - this is probably the place for you. If you want to sit back in a place by the ocean - find some place else, and if you are on a time crunch avoid this place big time.
