“boat blast - beach resort”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We were here on the NCL Dawn in Feb. 2013. It took about 45 minutes to get to the beach resort - through a totally desolated area - but it is totally worth it!! This was the cleanest, nicest, beach resort I have seen in a long time - and we travel quite a bit! The boat blast - 2 person little speed boats - take you to a floating platform where you snorkel with a guide. It was beautiful - huge reef, tons of colorful fish, just a real treat. The boats are fast and fun - everyone follows a guide lead boat. Highly recommend this. Our guides were Jose, Marco, and Fiberglass - they were great!!! They only take CASH - no credit cards - so bring along plenty for tipping or eating. Alochol is included, restrooms are attended and spotless, beach chairs, hammocks, etc. Wonderful!!!!

“Mayan Ruins Of Chachoben”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

On our cruise aboard the Norwegian Star on Feb. 26th, we took a shore excursion to see the Chachoben Mayan Ruins. It was a 90 min. drive to the site and we were then led by a very good tour guide for about 1.5 hrs. around the Mayan Ruins. It was extremely educational and interesting. We found it took archeologists over two years to uncover the ruins, and there are still more to be uncovered. Lots of interesting information on how the Mayans lived and eventually left the area. I would tell anyone on a cruise that stops here to go on this excursion as it is well worht the money and the time.

“Great day sailing and enjoying beach”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

This category covers different excursions provided by Costa Maya Excursions (one of the companies umbrellaed under Island Marketing). We took the "Private Catamaran Sailing and Snorkeling" excursion. This excusion is serviced by Jaime Strimpopulous at Nohch Kay. We were on a Norwegian Cruise Line and decided to book a private excursion rather than through the cruise line (they didn’t offer anything like this) . There were 5 of us and we are not snorkelers - we just wanted to be taken for a ride in the beautiful waters of Costa Maya.

We were greeted very warmly by Jamie. We had booked a 2 hour sail, but Jamie offered for us to do an hour, then enjoy the beach area for a few hours, eat, and then go on another hour sail in the afternoon. The reservation we made through Island Marketing specifically said the reservation did not include beach access before and after the catamaran sail, but since they were not booked up for the beach, Jamie offered us the use of the beach chairs and covered area, which really added to the day's enjoyment. This may not be true if they are booked up – they have limited space and only allow so many people on their beach. We had lunch there and it was very enjoyable. You can change in the restroom and if you have "extra stuff" Jamie put ours in one of his back rooms, but we could have left it on the beach.

Jamie and his staff were professional, friendly, and we had a lovely day at the Nohoch Kay Restaurant, Bar & Beach Club and sailing. The experience of booking through Island Marketing, LTD was very easy and positive.

“Mayan Ruins”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Very hot, jungle like atmosphere. Definitely worth the time spent. Our guide was very knowledgable, not only about the Mayans, but also the vegetation.

“Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, Costa Maya”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We found this tour on TripAdvisor and then booked it through Island marketing Ltd. we also booked another trip through them while on this cruise in Roatan. Both experiences were pleasant and just as advertised. Our tour guide was Lilia and she was very nice. She spoke good English and seemed to really enjoy sharing her knowledge of the Myan culture and the ruins. The drive was about 45 minuets and we were on the site for about an hour and a half. Our kids 8 & 10, really enjoyed the ruins. On the return to port the driver gave us the option of being dropped off at the port or a small village about 5 minuets from the port. We went there and enjoyed some beach time. The cab ride from there to the port was 5 min and 6$ for the four of us. We had a real nice day.
