Visited the Chacchoben ruins while on a cruise. It was our first time seeing Mayan Ruins, what an experience. Ruins were wonderful. The bus ride out is a bit long, but well worth it. Would have liked more time at the ruins.Definitely would recommend as a Must Do when visiting Costa Maya or the vicinity.

We read Nohoch Kay was good an hoped it would live up to it's Reviews, we needn't have worried as we had the perfect day. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and made very welcome. Drinks were offered regularly and we were escorted to our reserved sunbeds and palapa. Everyone made us so welcome and we were introduced to staff. Betty came around often checking we were OK and asking if we needed anything. Lunch was great, plenty of food and variety to choose from. Drinks cold and refreshing. We loved sitting under the shade eating our freshly prepared food. When sadly, it came time to leave and go back to the ship Scott made sure to let us know when to order our taxi and make sure it was on its way to us in good time. Sea gorgeous and warm, plenty to do it you want but there again.........a sunbed and sunshine with a cold beer what more could you ask. Our 8 year old granddaughter had a great day as friends from the ship arrived to play with and our older party members really enjoyed their massage with Tracey. If you go to Costa Maya and you want a good place to go check them out, you won't be disappointed.

A need to mention, in Mahahual/ Costa Maya there is a wonderful little book store. We found this little place beside Aromas just off the main street It's a used book store where you can buy or exchange your books or purchase some souvenirs. The lady there speaks English and was very friendly and helpful. They also offer free calls to Canada and US. The owner Nancy also volunteers with the children of the village. For such a small town this is a great place with a big heart!

A perfect beach looking out over vividly colored Caribbean waters. A thatched palapa with chaises and a table waiting for us. Swaying palm trees and an ocean breeze. No crowds. Frequently delivered drinks and snacks. Lunch in an open air restaurant. Delicious food prepared by Mayan chefs and served by attentive and courteous staff. Was this a dream? No, it was the Nohoch Kay beach club in Mahahual, Mexico.. One of the best days and deals offered on the cruise circuit. Definitely recommend.

Took an excursion from our cruise on the Celebrity Solstice to an ATV center about a half hour ride from the cruise dock. There we were instructed in the use of our personal one person ATV. We got helmets and "do-rags" for our heads(to make us look like real bikers...)
We set off on the road into the lower grassy areas first then wound our way into the jungle. Luckily we had been instructed when we booked to wear long pants and closed toe shoes since the ATV's need to be shifted with your left foot one "click" up at a time for the 5 gears (no clutch). This would be tough with sandals or flip-flops. The trail at times was only as wide as the ATV and would also sometimes be a foot deep in mud or under 1-2 feet of water. Anyway, we had a blast and were out for about 1 hour. We returned back to the center and were able to have a drink and swim in the beautiful calm water on a white sand beach if we wanted. Only had less than 1/2 hour to swim and relax. I wish that part could have been longer. I would highly recommend this excursion if you are looking for some different kind of adventure.
