Our first visit to the Grand Sirenis but we have been to Mexico many times. We stayed for 2 glorious weeks from March 28th - April 11th 2013. The only negative thing was having to leave. The food was great, the staff is wonderful. They are so friendly and accommadating. Our favortie waiter in the dining room was Jose Gonzalez. The rooms and grounds are kept very clean. We travelled with our 3 year old son, it is a great family resort. I would recommend this beautiful resort to family and friends.

Its a long way from the airport so its a 15 hour trip. The last thing you need when you get there is to be asked to wait out front for the bags being taken to the room, we stood in the blazing sun for over an hour. Room was odd, there was a large hole through the wall from the bedroom to the bathroon, this was a "feature" problem was the toilet cubicle had a glass door, entertainment was good, food was ok

I went to this resort in 2012 and it really didn't have any negative points except for the distance to walk to places. It is a large resort and the tram system could be better but the hotel did a great job with everything (considering the size). The lobby upon arrival is very grand, everything gives a good feel of the Mayan with the architecture and it spills over into the rooms as well. The concierges that take care of you are great and we got an a la carte restaurant every night we were there. They booked it with ease and having this option at night is truly the best part of my vacation as I am a foodie. The food at all the restaurants was great, even the buffet had something for everyone and I found they switched it up quite a bit but you will always have some of the ol staples every breakfast ect. Highly recommend the Grouper Special. Booze was top shelf which matters to me as well. Wine was ok but if you want good stuff you have to buy a bottle. Pools were great, bar service good if you tipped every other time which is good to do as these guys sling a lot of booze over a long shift. Beach was nice, not amazing but very good for the Mayan area. You can snorkel right off the beach and there are fish there, cool experience. Great way to spend 20 minutes is the lazy river. Good times with floaties provided. Just wait until someone is done. Good shows at night too plus they have vendors come in with great crafts. Overall great experience, I would highly recommend traveling here in late December, early January or April as the prices are about 1000-1200 for all inclusive goodness. I hope this helps..

Fifth visit to the Grand Sirenis. We brought friends with two, 9 year old twins and 11 year old.The kids found enough to keep them busy without joining the Kids Club. They are ready to go back again. We stayed in Standard Rooms, which have everything you need. We chose garden View because we are never in the rooms and if you want an Ocean view take the short walk to the beach. The kids loved the beaches, pools and Lazy River.
The greatest thing about the resort is the staff. I walk every morning and the grounds crew always had a smile and "Hola" everyday. I went to the Spa almost everyday (without the kids, 18 year old limit) The staff there is great. Yoni has a great personality and after your first visit he turns you loose to enjoy the Spa. There is a Grill at the Spa that does great grilled salmon, chicken, pork and veggies. The wait staff works hard and appreciates tips, although not required. DiDier on the beach kept our drinks fresh everyday.
Erik from Xcursion arranged a day trip to swim with the dolphins. We used Xcursion for private transportation to and from the airport. Roundtrip for our private van for 7 was $130.00. They were on time and very professional.
We ate in many of the restaurants and were satisifed with them all. The Japanese was declared the favorite for the group. If you love lots of meat go to the Brazilian. The kids preferred breakfast and lunch at the El Rancho because the Buffet had too many choices for them to decide. Although it was Easter week and the place was full, there were always plenty of beach chairs and seating at the restaurants and shows. The property is large enough and spread out so it never felt overcrowded. The artists at the market evenings were very good. They are well mannered and not pushy making their sales.
The only negative on the visit was a few loud fouled mouth "kids" on a Senior trip that the adults let get drunk in their presence on the beach. When I asked one of the "adults" to tone down the language they apologized and asked the kids to tone down the language, not the drinking.
Room service was very good will all requests. Our rooms were clean and well cared for the entire week long stay.
We will return again to Grand Sirenis, the only question is who will be going with us, we get lots of volunteers to go.

Room Tip: We were in the Acat building next to the main building. It is close to the main buffet, El Rancho fo...

Our family of 4 (two kids - ages 14 and 16) just returned from spring break trip at Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach. Previously we had stayed at the Grand Palladium but chose Sirenis due to high cost of GP. Our room was very nice - overlooked the ocean. Had to haggle at check in because they wanted to put us in a room overlooking the parking lot which wasn't even part of the Mayan Beach section of Sirenis. Restaurants had wonderful food especially the Mexican, Italian, Steakhouse and Brazilian. Dinner buffets were not good (variety of food but very unusual dishes that weren't appealing to our family). Breakfast buffets were OUTSTANDING with a variety of sweets, fruits and egg dishes. Loved the churros but where was the mango??? Unlimited beach towels were nice; kids enjoyed the lazy river and pools. Beach was too small and rocky for walking but we did enjoy snorkeling. We saw sting rays, colorful fish, urchins and my favorite, tortugas, (turtels). Best part of the trip was our experience with the dive center staff especially Juan Carlos who worked with us so we could complete our open water certification. Everyone in the dive center was friendly and we can't wait for our next dive adventure. One other negative was the limited number of shaded beach chairs. Each morning my husband got up at 6:00AM to secure beach chairs in the shade. All in all, I would recommend this resort for people who want a great all inclusive experience AND good snorkeling right off the beach.

I have been to this resort three years on a row for Spring break with my family and it has consistantly performed at or above my expectations in most capacities.

The bar service at the pool was excellent. Cali Bardiona and Jose De la paz served us most of the week and were always pleasant and efficient with despensing the drinks. The buffet restaurant staff were great. They were attentive without being overly pushy. The buffet food quality was quite high and the variety was there every night, which is good when travelling with children. The rooms were large and always well maintained by the housekeeping staff. All requests regarding the rooms were dealt with promptly.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone with a family looking for great quality, nice facilities and excellent service from the staff.

This was our fifth time at this resort and we thoroughly enjoyed it every time. This time we went with Air Transat and I have to say that their airplanes and staff were very good. This was our first trip with our 16 month old daughter and we were a little nervous about how the trip would go. She had a wonderful time, spent everyday in the pool and a few days splashing in the ocean and feeding the abundant fish there. We found something for her to eat at every restaurant, she ate the best she has ever eaten and slept like a log after all the activity of the day. This is a beautiful resort with friendly staff, good restaurants with a wide variety of food and lots of bars for those who want to drink. The resort is laid out in a nice fashion with lots of vegetation and some vary nice lighting and scenery. There is always something to do at the resort if you take advantage of the options or you can just relax an veg and nobody pressures you to party. The beaches are great, not long and really wavy like other resorts so not good for body surfing as there is an off shore reef protecting it. I went out and swam on red flag days and could barely feel some slight tow but could not get a wave to body surf on. The days that are calm are the best as the snorkelling is great; lots of fish of different varieties, some sting rays, occasional barracudas and some young sea turtles by the north beach which is nice and sandy although I always recommend bringing water shoes for every southern trip as you never know. The staff at the resort are almost all very friendly and will always try to take care of your needs. We always had good service at the restaurants and we especially appreciate Yobani at the main buffet who was always quick and efficient and treated out baby very well. The rooms were well cleaned and the concierges were always available for questions and concerns. The entertainment crew were excellent, they kept things hopping for all ages but did not try to force you to participate if you did not want to. I have read some of the negative reviews and some of the points are valid but most are not. We have been to various resorts down south and this is by far the best for the money. Certainly it is not a 5 star as I would expect at least free wifi and some more options for higher end drinks but it is for sure a 4 to 4.5 star for the southern resorts. We have never had any problems with our luggage there but we do not leave valuables unattended at any resort or hotel including Canada. Our luggage was always delivered to our room before we got there or shortly after. The only problem with luggage service is at the end of the trip when everybody wants their luggage brought at same time and there is only 1 poor bugger trying to get it all so you might want to leave extra time for check out especially early morning. The marble floors at the resort are beautiful but if it rains you have to be careful as they do get slippery. The food was very good, as there is always a choice for everyone; no one will starve there, I had very good steaks at the steakhouse and the bayou restaurant. The last point is that this is the south and most resorts will have a slight musty smell in the rooms from humidity if the air has not been used for a while but just keep one of the keys in the operating mechanism in the room and the air and fan can stay on and the smell goes away and if it really is that bad the hotel does do its very best to keep you happy and move you to another room. In conclusion, great resort with little downside relative to many others in the south and a great value, have a great time.
