A can not say enough nice things about this place. We are staying here the last week in September and so far our trip has been perfect. We have contacted the staff a number of times and they have taken care of our every need. They have arranged private trips for us to various Mayan ruins, etc. with total efficiency.
We are staying in Casita #3. It is a wonderful little home. Two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One room has a King size bed and the other has a double and single. The furniture is comfortable and the beach and entrance to the water is just steps away.
If you are considering a stay in Akumal, please give this place a chance. You will not be disappointed.

Started staying here every summer from the time my son was 12 years old to present. My son who is now 30 and had his destination wedding here. Condos are all unique from one another, original Casitas are 2 bedrooms to bath, comfortable and the water is a couple of feet away. Amazing place to snorkel and safe for young children since the water is so calm. Several places to eat in Akumal. If really looking for a place to get away, this is it. You don't deal with the crowds and commericalization of Cancun and now unfortunately Playa del Carmen.

On my vacation this year I stayed at Las Casitas Akumal with my family for 2 weeks. Different from the standardised resorts from Cancun and all Riviera Maya, Las Casitas are a set of chalets located on the edge of the white sand of Akumal beach.

Akumal has a village in one side of the road and the beach community on the other side, where there is also a Diving and ecological centre working on preservation of the marine ecosystems.

Las Casitas are very charming and simple at the same time, with air conditioning and some facilities at the beach, they also combine everything you need in case you want to stay at home and cook your own meals. At the same time, there are some good options on restaurants at walking distance. The community has also other facilities such as: supermarkets, souvenir shops and a spa. At the beach you can walk 2 minutes and go on your bikini to the main restaurant and have typical Mexican food of good quality accompanied by all choices of drinks, including micheladas and margaritas.

Personnel are very friendly and we were lucky to have had Santina as our helper on cleaning the house. She is a Mayan descendent with whom we were able to learn some words on her ancient language. Some maintenance problems that arise during our stay were solved fast and properly.

The place can be magic at the day when you have this wonderful white sand being touched by this unbelievable beautiful Caribbean blue sea. But can also be magic at night when for instance my daughters had the opportunity to see huge sea turtles digging at the sand in order to bury their eggs.

Room Tip: Although all houses are right there at the beach, chose the houses/chalets number 11 or 12 that have a direct path to the steps that lead to the water.

We been going to Las Casitas Akumal for 15 years every year is the best place ever if you are looking for a place to relax and just enjoy the beach. Looking for fun not the right place for you, this is a family place where time goes slow and you can enjoy snorkeling kayaking and if you are certified scuba diving the best place to do it.
Staff very friendly. The only oops is one some of the owners from las casitas come to vacation at the same time as you -specially some we know- and they make a lot of noise and think they can do anything since they own a house, we love the place because is quiet and peaceful dont need to hear anyones music or conversation, just need to relax. This time a met a great family it was their first time there and what they loved was the quiet place.

We love this place, it's the only place we can all enjoy (kids 2 and 4yo, grand parents, and parents) it's safe, quiet, relaxing, everything it's walking distance, grate LAUNDRY service (2 places one next to the convince store and the other which I think it's better is crossing the bridge in Akumal pueblo, it don't matter at what time in the morning you drop your bunch of dirty wet clothe they will have it ready for you that day at 4 pm or 6pm which it's really good for me w 2 dirty clothe machines!!!
The staff in las casitas its very polite and kind always willing to help.
The restaurants are grate but I think a little over price but what do you expect when you are in paradise!!
See you next year Akumal

Room Tip: We're been in room 6, 14 and 15 so far room 14 it's our favorite!! Oh ask for 2 old beach towels so you can put on the floor cause its a little slippery!!
