it was a while ago, maybe in 2009 - our first all inclusive experience and we loved it. the trip offered an excellent value. a la carte experiences were very positive, buffet halls are huge. they also have smaller buffet venues around the property if you don't want the big crowd during breakfast or dinner. pools were great, we loved this place

We had a great 1 week vacation with the family. The resort is situated right on a reef and we could use a snorkel/mask for 1 hour a day. The varieties of fish was amazing and we usually could find a sea turtle swimming around as well.
There is lots to do right on the resort - we did archery and air rifle target shooting under the supervision of their staff (Omar). Safe and fun. The lazy river was a nice way to cool down. The staff run all kinds of activities throughout the day and the evening programs in the theatre were entertaining.
The rooms were adequate although we did have some problems with the A/C. They were very responsive to our concerns.
The a la carte restaurants were excellent but the most popular (Japanese) had no availability during the week were there even though we booked the morning after we arrived. The Brazilian was my favorite and the waiter (Alverto) really helped to make it so - he was fun and very personable.
I thought it was a very good family resort.

The Gran Sirenis is a terrific resort with a great staff & lovely beach. It has one of the better natural beaches in the area. The food was good & had sufficient variety. The rec staff put on shows each evening & although not Broadway quality the effort they made was wonderful. A wonderful vacation

My wife and i got back two weeks ago today after staying a fortnight and are really missing this wonderful resort, ignore all the bad reviews. The resort is big but you can reach everything within 5 mins walk and the staff are the most polite and hardworking we have came across regardless if you tip or not .
This is a genuine review from a well travelled couple.

Arrival at hotel :-
First choice told us we were staying on the Mayan Beach side so we e-mailed the hotel and requested a room that was central due to a mobility issue , however when we arrived reception told us we were in the Riviera Maya side this caused a little bit of amusing confusion but after a welcome cocktail we were taken to our room on a golf cart by the very nice bell boy who insisted on not letting us lift a case until we were in the room, a well earned tip followed.

Room 1015 Acat :-
In our oppinion you cant get anymore central than this block for the theatre, pool, restaurants and lobby bars. When we got in there was a welcome note a bowl of fruit and bottle of tequilla. A very big thank you to Elizabeth Becerra Velez who dealt with my request.
The room itself was very spacious to say the least and superbly cleaned by Carlos Antonio Poot and his towel art was a welcome sight every day.

Restaurants :-
We used the main restaurant mostly as we didnt want to be tied to times, the food was great and there was a huge variety,,there are themed nights aswell my favourite was the mexican. To those people who moan about the food you must be very hard to please
The managers went out off ther way to accomodate people with allergies and religions.
We only used the Steakhouse and Cajun happy with both.

Lobby Bar Tequilla :-
Our favourite haunt (Doh!!!!!!!!) Had many a great time here , well stocked bar with quality international spirits. One night the bar ran out off Johnnie Walker to which Clemente told me, Im sorry I only have Glenfidich. What a result !!!!!!!!!!
Clemente Mukulcan is the pick of the bunch behind the bar what a memory this guy has, a joy to watch him in action, and the lovley hard working waitresses Laura,Elvina, and Bianca whos politeness and attentiveness are a credit to the hotel .

Theatre :-
Well layed out with very good pre show singers and band. Excellent shows include Grease, Lion king, Broadway, Mexican, Alice in Wonderland and Chicago being our favourites, very hard working entertainment team still going at 11 pm .

The beach :-
Absolutely stunning, unlike any other Mexican beach this is split into 3 coves with a mayan ruin dominating the view with a beautiful torquoise sea yes it has some rocks here and there but a pair of swim shoes will solve that minor problem . The beach furthest to the left is the best with no rocks and the best snorkelling we have ever seen . You are gauranteed to see Turtles , Sting rays, and an abundance of wonderful fish and coral. A special mention to Guadalupe who worked non stop to make sure everyone had drinks as they sunbathed. We enjoyed teaching her Scottish as she taught us Spanish ( Braw Lassie )

Room Tip: anywhere in the acat building very central to everything we stayed in 1015 first floor

We stayed here in July 7-14. Close to xelha , nice location and beach is clean with some rocks which is good for photography . Beach is private and big . Added attraction is the little ruin by the rock. If you go to the beach and you have a little kids be sure to bring a piece of bread to feed the fish and you will see thousands of fish coming to you. The room is big but the furniture is outdated .staff in the dining area doesn't speak much English and sometimes very hard to communicate. They don't serve specialty drink or simple drink like Shirley temple or pinacolada in the main buffet. They only serve orange / pineapple coffee tea and wine . Unlike other hotel they do. Food is not that great , even the taste is not so good compare to the other hotel we stayed. Dining area is very clean and not much mosquito like the Barcelo. We enjoyed the lazy river specially the kids. The shuttle service around the hotel are not so friendly. Many times we tried to ride but they won't take us. Beach is beautiful and no vendor to bother you. Best part is the room service its free and if you don't want to eat outside you can just order from the menu and it's included. The whole hotel is very clean. The show at night is good enough. The tours we bought from experiencias Mexico , it's the lady by the lobby was very good and comfortable . It's all a deluxe tour and I'll rate it a 5 star tour. I didnt buy from the transat girl bec. The last time I bought my tour from sunwing rep. The tour was in a small group and it's just a small van. This time it was all a big tour bus with the snake sign on the side. Taxi to playa del Carmen cost around 25-28 us dollar. The pool is not too big by the way but it nice because it's surrounded by the tree and rock formations on the side.

Fantastic! This was our first time to any tropical destination! What a way to start - we're hooked! Everything was top notch - it's not everywhere you can have bacon wrapped filet mignon served in a breakfast buffet!

Amazing place. Rooms are amazing. Service great. Friendly staff. Been there twice. Will go again. Wish the mini busses was going more often. And the beach is a bit rocky. Also had lobster dinner on the beach. And didn't like the lobster at all. Other then that was very happy with everything else.
