What a wonderful week in the Grand Bahia principe, Coba. Boy was it ever hot, hot, hot. We all truly enjoyed ourselves. The pool party on Saturday was the best pool party we have ever been to. The trollys were always available, only a few minutes to wait, what a great idea. This is my second trip to Mexico, certainly not my last. I love Mexico. Friendly people all over and very hospitable. Nothing bad to say at all. I defineatly will recommend this place. See you again, from your Canadian friend.

Room Tip: Close to the pool, was a great spot.

Nice park, with a lot of green, funny small animals, nice apartments, swimming pools, bars, beach, etc. For me only the beds could be a bit better. They are very spacious, but a bit too hard.

The beach was good. Also all the bars around the park. The sea side was protected against the waves, so you could easily relax in the water.

The buffets are good and there is a lot of choice. Guess everyone will find something there that they like. 3 times a week you can go to an a la carte restaurant, and the was disappointing in a few cases. The Mexican restaurant Tequila was not good. I expected more from a Mexican restaurant in Mexico. The food was not better than the Mexican food the buffet. The Italian restaurant Portofino was the worste. I don't know what I got served, but it didn't look like anything that I had ordered. The ones I liked were Pescador, Mikado and the Brasilian rodizio restaurant (don't know the name anymore).

All credits should go out to all the people working there, giving you all the service possible, in order to make you stay as pleasant as possible. Even if you don't tip them!

Special thanks to Felix Fernando Fuentes Diaz at the Arrecife bar. He made lovely drinks, gave us good tips on what to do, and helped us chosing the best tequila to bring home.

Overall a very nice and relaxing holiday. Would not doubt going back again.

It might be a good idea to take a taxi from (and to) the airport, instead of going with the tour operators but. That way it only is an hour. With the bus it potentially could take you more than 2 hours (depending if people need to be dropped of at other hotels)

Room Tip: In Coba try to not have the apartments in the buildings closest to the highway. There it might be no...

We were very pleased with our holiday. We had never been on an all-inclusive holiday before and did not know what to expect; but it was better than we had envisaged. The surroundings were beautiful, the beaches fine and sandy and we never had any trouble finding lounge chairs. The food was good, the staff were always friendly, helpful and efficient. The standards of hygiene and cleanliness were very high. We had a very relaxed holiday which was what we were hoping for.

We would definitely go back again.

Just got back from this resort, Coba, and it was perfection... best we have ever been to. Five travellers together enjoyed EVERY minute, without one problem or issue. Split time between the Active Pool and beautiful beach. Clean sheets nightly, spotless cleaning, surprise tray of sweets, fruit and truffels delivered to our room, great buffets throughout the three resorts (tried them all)..supurb food, transportation around the complexes, entertainment -(especially the casual fun in the Coba Square with young and old dancing like fools),

This resort is especially great for families with young children who can play in the wonderful children's pool with the multiple water slides, activities (staff led), lifeguard, etc. as well as the playground and play areas throughout.

Staff were amazing, our travelling group was impressed by how hard every one works and how fast they move, I am sure from above it would be an impressive view.

We are already talking of a trip back again since our prayers for snow storms in NS didn't come true...we had to come home.

Room Tip: Loved the 19-22 area as close to the 'action'... but with the trolleys get you around easily...

Just got back from a week at he Gran Bahia Principe Coba. When we first arrived we were given a room with two double beds and then it was a three day struggle to get moved to a room with a king bed. And when we did get moved it was to a room over looking the maintenance yard so back to the desk again. The we had a maintenance person show up at our door at 12:30 am to fix something and when I told him that we had not called he became agitated and tried to push the door open so I forced the door closed. For a moment I thought we were about to be robbed. I went to the front desk and they told me they were calling security and to write down what had happened. After a twenty minute wait I was told that security would not be coming and that they were sorry. Then there is sellers row off of the lobby where every time you walk by you are bothered by hotel workers who are trying to get you attend the time share presentation or given the sales pitch by the spa workers. The beach was less than impressive. There are huge sand bags in the water to break up the waves so you can't go out any great distance. On our last day we were walking along the beach and were passed by 20 or so military and police with assault rifles over their shoulder. They met up with another group on the beach and as we walked by they were standing around a huge package wrapped in plastic that had washed up on the beach. Drugs no doubt and apparently this is quite common here. We ate at four Al a carte restaurants and they were all average the beef at the Mikado was not even chewable. I noticed several others who also spat the beef back into a napkin because they couldn't chew it. Went to the Seafood restaurant at the Akumal and the food was smothered with butter and again it was not edible. We had a good time despite all of this but there was just something missing. We have stayed a few Riu Palaces and there is no comparison when it comes to service. Its reminds me of a Wal-Mart it has everything but if you want real quality don't shop here.

Room Tip: Stay near the quite pool. Villas 24,25 or 26 are good.

February 3 to 14, 2013. 11 days with Sunquest and West Jet just a perfect length of stay. The weather was beautiful sunny and breezy. This was our second trip to Coba so we knew what to expect. Nothing has changed in 2 years and the rooms are now beginning to look a little dark. The Hotel, pools and grounds were beautiful. The 3 Hotel combination did not seem so overwhelming the second time round. The 2 hour bus ride from the airport is a bummer especually for young children it seemed never ending. However a couple of days later we took the local bus $3 up the road (standing room only) at 140 km an hour no seatbelts to Playa del Carmen which was certainly an adventure/trip not to miss for the brave.

At the TAO Wellness Center over at the golf course they have complimentary Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi & Pilates. We did the Zumba and Yoga and they were great. There was also Zumba on the beach board walk which was very popular. Anywhere else this would cost a fortune so take advantage if this is your thing.

We birdwatched over at the golf course and took a trip by Taxi to the Coba ruins. There were 4 of us and it was cheaper than booking an official trip. The Taxi waited until we were ready to return. In all a good time was had by all and would consider a 3rd trip if the price was right. There were no mozzies!!!!!

Room Tip: No rooms in Coba are on the beach. You must use the golf cart people movers. Choose a 2nd floor or...
