“only the position is good”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

I cannot suggest this hotel: very poor service, rooms and common area really dirty, only the position of the beach in front of the hotel (the only beach not cleaned in all the area) is interesting. The word "resort" is completely inadequate for this place

Spent two days there, quiet, out of the busy, pricy hotels, great beach, beach bar excellent, great food, outstanding service. The beach is beautiful, great for sunset walks, view the turtles up close in the nature, not trapped, close to Tulum Ruins, ad Xcaret. Best choice in 6 visits to Cancun area.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights and had a wonderful time. They are located in a quite bay away from the craziness of the "all inclusives:" with an outstanding beach. The location is convenient as far as proximity to different activities and attractions (Tulum, XCaret, cenotes, manatees, diving, fishing, sightseeing). The rooms are very spacious and a great value with kitchens and all the amenities you could ever ask for. They have a bar right on the beach with a restaurant that is super convenient, great drinks and friendly staff. They'll cook the food and bring it to you on the beach!! Being family owned makes a difference. They take pride in the quality of accommodations and service they offer. The owners themselves will take you on cenote tours that are not so commercially visited which I really liked. Everything from the onsite dive shop and deep sea fishing service, the cenote and snorkeling tours, on beach bar and restaurant, and rooms was really great! I recommend this to families, groups of young people interested in nature, and couples looking for a private, romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms opening to the beach is really convenient!

The A/C is only window style and only in the bedrooms, so bring ear plugs.
Units are wonderfully spacious and quite well equipped and maintained.
Tony & his sister Elaina operate the place and are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They are American, so no language problems for English.

Room Tip: Beach in front of hotel is rocky, so walk a little northerly.

Downside: No drinking water in the rooms except the beach front condos. Water is located in water cooler by front office. You only get one towel per person. You must ask for a beach towel. Bedding is old and doesn't match. Shower heads spray in all directions. Coffee is awful. There are NO phones in the rooms. Some cockroaches but you are next to the jungle so this is normal. Wifi is wonky. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Service and information are lacking. I like to know what's going on. It was hard to get information because the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. This is a NO frills hotel
Upside: flat screen tv, mini fridge, wall A/C, big shower, closet with shelves, safe in room, room is clean and safe, you are right on the beach. This area in Akumal is expensive and exclusive. The price is good compared to the surrounding villas and condos for rent. Elena, the owners daughter is a tour guide. Go with her to the Santa Cruz cave tour and casa cenote. This tour was amazing and so surreal. We were the only ones in the cave. It was exclusive and just a fabulous experience. So much fun!!! Akumal north has great restaurants. Turtle Bay Cafe and La Buena Vida are my two favorite restaurants. Very cute town and shops.

I emailed them a couple of days before we left to check availability and was told by the owner that there was a room and to confirm by email to reserve, which I did. But when I arrived, there wasn't a reservation for us and we had to wait more than 30 minutes while an empty room was cleaned, which wasn't ideal after a long day in the sun. We were also told there weren't any restaurants nearby on the beach but that we could get room service at a high cost. We walked out to the beach after that and found a restaurant right next door.

Love this place! We were steps to the beach out our patio door! Sand was sugary white and soft! Snorkeling was great! Dive shop was great! Fishing was great! You can do it all from this quiet and private resort! Loved it and will deffinatly be back!
