We have been traveling the world for the last 25 years with an average of 5 or 6 vacations a year. We have stayed in great resorts and no so great ones. We absolutely love going there! As a matter of fact will be there in about 10 days. If you life the vibe of a mega hotel where you are just a number, have kids running, splashing, screaming all over the place, loud speakers calling bingo numbers, pretentious "gourmet restaurants" where they serve the same buffet food on a nice plate and drunken twenty somethings, VILLAS DE ROSA is not for you! But if you are looking for a great place with amazing surroundings, clean accommodations, the friendliest staff, great diving, awesome homemade food and a great vibe please go there. We had brought there family, friends, kids, pets you name it. I think Abbixter got it wrong, you need to do your homework before any vacation and if you failed please don't blame others take some personal responsibility. I think when you are young and inexperience you are allowed to make some mistakes, but please people let's think twice before we write something derogatory about a business online. This is the second time I've stayed at Villa De Rosa while in Mexico. Both times have been great but this time I must say they were AMAZING! We had a group of 12 with us, 11 cave divers and one open water diver. They did everything to accommodation us. There were some who were vegitarian in our group and many who had aversions to some foods and they went above and beyond to ensure we were all happy with our stay. I loved being right on the beach and the rooms were always clean and comfortable. I left all my personal belongings out (including a VERY pricey underwater camera rig and felt comfortable doing so). The staff is very friendly and professional. It's not a five star resort but for what we needed, it was more than awesome! :) Tony is great and greeted us almost every morning ready to handle anything we needed. The best part was my husband had his birthday on the trip and Rebecca had the kitchen staff make a birthday cake and come in singing happy birthday in spanish! Perfect! We had a great trip and will be back for sure.

from the reviews i thought this would be a much better experience than it was. our room smelt like mildew, there was mold in our shower and the icing on the cake was that our "king size" bed was in fact two twins pushed together with king sheets. really?!?! i would be more understanding if say the hotel had been packed to its gills and improvisation was their last resort but there were at best only 15 other villas occupied (and i mean at best!). the staff were certainly friendly but since our main requirement was a comfy place to sleep this didnt come close to fitting the bill. there are are far more comparably priced nicer properties in akumal and tulum to choose from.
