We spent two weeks in the Kantenah section of the resort with two kids, 8 and 10 years old. It’s a great resort for families, lots of different activities kept us busy during our stay. I would give it 4.5*.

The room was updated and clean, everything in working order. At first we thought that the fridge was broken, but figured out that it’s not very cold because the cabinet it sits in doesn’t allow for enough air circulation. If you leave the cabinet door slightly ajar your fridge will work much better. We were in villa #45 which is not a very good location, it’s quite a long walk to the beach, pool or lobby. It seemed difficult to catch a shuttle on our way to the lobby and that’s probably my main complaint about this resort. The trees at this resort are very close to the balconies, so you really don’t get any view.

The pool is very large and clean. We liked that it’s a little deeper, but if you don’t like that then the White Sands might be better for you. We found that there were many loungers available at any time of the day and it was easy to get a shady spot. The new children’s pool is very nice, my 8 year old liked it but my 10 year old was not interested so it’s probably better for younger kids.

The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed many long walks. The sand is very fine and you don’t need water shoes on the beach, however, if you are going into the water there are areas where you will need them. We found that the best area for swimming without having to worry about rocks is straight out of the Kantenah section. That part of the beach is also quieter and there is a bar with bathrooms, but it is a long walk to the buffet for lunch. That is also where we went snorkeling, but you have to swim out to the ropes to see some beautiful fish. We went to Akumal Bay on our own to snorkel with the turtles and the number of fish we saw at the resort was comparable to that in Akumal.

Overall, we enjoyed the food at this resort. Some things were better than others. The buffet usually had enough variety and there are items you can order on the grill (3 types of fish and 3 types of meats). We tried some a la carte restaurants and enjoyed the Japanese, Ribs and More, Italian, the Mediterranean was quite salty. The longest wait for us was about 20 minutes.

We used the tennis courts on most days and they are quite good. It’s best to reserve one ahead of time because they get pretty busy in the evening. They have racquets and balls which are fine if you are a beginner, otherwise I recommend that you bring your own.

We had a very good stay at this resort and would recommend it to friends and family. Service was good and staff quite friendly.

This was our second stay at the Palladium and my wife and I remain very impressed with the resort and its friendly staff. It is a beautiful place and the staff work very hard to keep everything immaculate. Although it is a large resort it is also a great opportunity to walk around and enjoy the natural beauty. Hint - a short walk up the beach will get you to the other sections quickly. Our Kantenah Junior Suite was very nice and close to everything. The buffets are wonderful with varied selections - LOTS of choices. My wife has gluten allergies and she was given a special card, which she presented at all the restaurants/buffets. She was given the royal treatment, including a tour of all the food stations with explanations on ingredients. She was also able to order gluten free bread etc. Special thanks to Celea, Manuel, Viridiana and Fernando for being so gracious and helpful. The pool and beach areas are fantastic with many options for shade and the ocean was calm enough for relaxed swimming. The beach bar was very convenient (great staff again). We highly recommend the Monday evening White Party dance and Fire show at the Salt water pool and the Beach barbecue (be sure to reserve in advance). The evening entertainment is still pretty much the same as two years ago with more emphasis on the kids as this is very much a family resort. My wife enjoyed the daily exercise and Yoga classes, Spanish lessons and a kitchen tour plus several visits to the gorgeous spa. I simply LOVED the beach.
You CANNOT go wrong choosing this resort.

We just returned from a week at the Grand Palladium Kantenah. The service was outstanding. Check in was smooth and we were exploring the resort within 30 minutes of arrival. Since our check in was at 5pm we looked for a place for dinner. Our teens wanted the buffet, but since it was my birthday I wanted to try the El Dorado steak house. There was a bit of a wait to be seated at the steakhouse, so we found our kids a seat at the buffet and my wife and I dined at the steak house later. It was terrific. Lazed by the El Rinconcito Pool next morning, but the rest of my party wanted to hang by the main pool, so that's where every day started after that. Over the course of the week we tried the La Adelita (mexican), Mare Nostrum (mediteranean), Sumptuori (japanese) and Portofino (italian) ala carte restaurants. Wait times vaired from 90 minutes to immediate seating. They have an awesome system where they give you a notication disk that flashes when your table is ready. You simply head to the nearest bar while you wait for your table.

We were in a standard room in building 42 and it was fine. Estela did a terrific job keeping the room spotless (no easy task when you travel with two teenagers). After a couple of days we didn't need the map anymore as we settled into a routine and knew our way around pretty well. Breakfast at La Hacienda and lunch at El Gran Azul were daily occurences. A big shout out to Landy at La Hacienda for her fabulous omlettes! A big hello to all the bartenders at El Grand Azul who greated me with a boisterous hola Mr Cerveza each time I stopped by. I don't think I drank that much beer....

We also enjoyed the Sport Centre, the theatre shows and the lovely walks on the beach.

The teen club was a disappointment. The club is a bit out of the way, so no teens actually 'hang out' there. There is so much to do around the main pools that the teens would rather be there or using the water trampoline at the beach.

So much to do, such a large resort and so much to still see and do. Perhaps another visit?

We just returned from our first visit to Palladium resort. We were with my three sons (6,3,2) and my inlaws. I read tons and tons of these reviews before we booked and thought it would be fair to share our thoughts as well in hopes to help someone trying to decide. First and foremost if you are travelling with children this is an amazing resort!
Before going we read about how much walking there was, we even purchased a second stroller for my 3 year old to prepare but honestly it wasn't that bad. We previously stayed at the Grand Bahia Pricipe Coba and it was about the same. Yes there is walking and boardwalks but nothing crazy and not bad around the kantenah and if you go to other sister sections you can catch a ride no problem. Before going we read that building 51 was a good location. We emailed in advance requesting to be there and not on a ground floor (we read that they can have ants) although it wasn't guaranteed we did get exactly what we requested which was a wonderful surprise. They even gave us a crib and had the sofa bed made up for us which we never requested but did need. The food is average nothing amazing but no complaints either. The kids pool was FANTASTIC it has about 6-7 bigger slides and about 5 toddler slides, along with lots of wading area and waterfalls. The big pool is really deep, over my head (i am only 5"2) but made it hard to take our little ones but still not huge deal. It did have little shallow islands and areas for them to play on. The beach was great and only a few steps from the pool, it is long and narrow which could I guess feel crowded but we never really noticed. Lots of chairs to lounge in but not much shade at all which was a small issue for my father inlaw. We read in advance that it was rocky and needed water shoes but we never had any and honestly it was a beautiful sandy bottom except for the obvious rocky areas that were better for snorkling. The A La Carte's - there were lots to choose from, some of course better then others (mexican was great, bamboo was not) and you can go as many times as you want, no limits but you can't make reservations at them ( except for 2) we never really had to wait more then 30 mins with a party of 7 to get in but we did try to be there around 6/6:30 at the latest. We did see upset people at the wait times when they were arriving later. Rooms were good for the most part clean ( we did have these tiny tiny little bugs in the bathroom sink some days but you could barely even see them) same as most other juniour suites. We did have a funny issue with the power in the room because they are a "green" hotel - you are suppose to put your key in a key holder in your room to keep power going......however our room and our inlaws never had a key holder. So if you stopped moving for 5 mins all the power/ ac everything shut off. Whatever the issue the front desk dealt with it so it only shut of during daytime hours and kept running in night time so we had ac. We never had intentions of using the kid's club at all but by the third day and seeing them all around the resort my 6 year old was begging to try and tired of playing with his little brothers. We put him in and he loved it! We literally couldn't get him out. They do so much with the kids, crafts, activities, swimming and they put on fantastic little mini shows on the main stage before the main show that all the kids loved being a part of. I can't speak highly enough about the ladies running the kids club. They put in insanely long hours but they still play and interact with the kids so much and are always so happy and excited to be with the kids. The kids club is located right in the middle basically of the big pool, kids pool and beach so it was really easy to do hourly or more checks on the kids and everytime we did he had such a huge smile on his face. He loved it and the chance to play with other kids his age. We had a great vacation and of course there are always things that can be improved but would we return, absolutely. It was totally on par with the Bahia Principe Coba.
Palladium is also one of the few resorts that allow families of 5 to stay in one room together

Room Tip: building 51 was great and central

We stayed at this resort in January. Our family booked at the Colonial and on check in we were offered the Kantenah. The rooms were very well kept and clean. I think the rooms were recently remodeled. The resort is large and well laid out. There is a lot of walking but, we did not mind because we ate a lot of food and this was our way to work it off. If there was a negative it would be when we booked the Spa was included and when we got there it was for the cost of $10.00. The staff were kind and the food was very good in some places and pretty good in others but there are plenty of places to choose from. My only regret was our stay was not long enough. Thank you Grand Palladium for the wonderful memories for our family.

We stayed at the Palladium last year in March 2013 for our Wedding Anniversary and as soon as we got home we booked to return in March 2014.

This place is amazing:
Friendly staff, beautiful jungle setting and wildlife, long white beach, stunning SPA with infinity pool, secret adult pools, swim up bar with music, plenty of a la carte restaurants, fantastic buffet, bar areas with friendly service, great entertainment too....there's something for everyone here.

We are very excited to be returning; this year with our daughter as a university graduation treat.. so a double celebration! :)

This was our second time at this hotel and it couldn't have been any better. We took our son and his girlfriend with us and they were overwhelmed by the beauty and standards of this place.
We got the same room as last year as requested and the kids were close to us...We had a fantastic time.

This trip we did an excursion, snorkeling at 3 different places along with zip lining and cave exploring..
Our host/guide was Edmondo (Mondo) with Adventuras Mayas....he was an added bonus to this trip..
We hadn't laughed so much than this day.. charming, knowledgeable, extremely helpful and Hilarious.
I would recommend this for anyone that loves to have a great time. The equipment was supplied and photographers captured some great moments.
If you want Five * rating go there, they treat you like family and GP Kantenah is our extended family. We will be going back in October, this is our home away from home and Mondo is our brother..
