This all-inclusive resort was wonderful. Everyone on staff was very friendly and professional. The resort was beautiful. I would advise to be prepared to go to the pool and let the staff watch your luggage if you arrive well before the check-in time at 3. The food at the steak house, Japanese Restaurant and the beach snack bar (Jalepeno Poppers) were fantastic. No waiting. The drinks were great too....and the bartender Candelerio (hope I spelled this right). We are planning on going back next summer with lots of friends! Lots of activities, so you don't even need to leave the resort. Also, when we missed the bus to the airport the taxi service was great! Only thing - you can't see the ocean from your room, but we didn't spend much time there anyway!

We returned today from a 2 week stay in this resort and for the first time ever I feel compelled to write a report! The location, facilities and food are excellent so all the key ingredients for a relaxing summer break. This is what we experienced so long as we did not ask for anything from reception in terms of customer service! This hotel is not interested in you once you arrive as by then they have your money. We had a couple of occasions to ask for service/explanation and both times they just could not be bothered to even listen to us. The end of our holiday was spoilt by the fact that we had a night flight and despite being told that we could keep both of our rooms for a late check out (paid for by us therefore not a freebie!) we were told at 8am on the day of departure that we could not have them and had to leave at 12 noon. I am sitting here now having spent 4 hours waiting in reception for our transfer to the airport and a very long flight back home. We had wanted to book again for Jamaica with Grand Palladium but will now give our business to another hotel.

I notice the Hotel responds to positive reports but don't expect anything for this one! If they can't hold a conversation with you when you are in front of them then I shan't hold my breath!

Room Tip: Avoid villa 63 Rivera as they are very tired and about 15 mins walk to main area.

Dear MrsP67,

First and foremost, thanks a lot for your comments about your stay in our hotel. We feel happy to know that you enjoyed the facilities, the food and the service we provided, as our aim is to make satisfied guests.
All comments, bad and good, are very important for improving our service every day, and we really appreciate the feedback about our staff, due the very effort we always do to make our guests feel like at their home away from home.

Concerning your comment about the check out, we are going to look into it as it is really weird because many people stay for hours after check out until their buses or flights leave.

Thanks again and please do not hesitate to contact us for any further comment.

Just got back from 10 days at this resort, totally amazing! This place was recommended by a friend who had been a few times and so plsed that we went!

Gents, make sure you take long trousers for the specialty restaurants, the buffet restaurant is great but you MUST try the steak house!!! you need to Que from about 7.30am in the main Colonial lobby to book for the specialty restaurants, but we ended up just going to the one we wanted early evening and they gave us this funny plastic saucer type thing that lights up when your table is ready - you may wait up to 2 hrs though :-(

Also get your snorkeling gear before you go as its very expensive there... also take lots of mosquito repellent fr day & night - they are relentless!!!

They do accept US dollars there but you get Peso's in change so you may loose out on the exchange rate, we were advised to take Peso's.

Entertainment staff are great and you must do the Aqua gym in the Colonial pool at midday - lots of laughs, they also have 2 sets of dance lessons there a day too. Evening show from 10pm is good also!

The small restaurant/bar on the beach is good - but sit down and order rather than using the buffet - much nicer - meat nachos YUMMY!!!

Hope you find my review & tips useful and have a super time!!!

4 stars at a push. Large complex but not enough transport to ferry people about when needed, for example in the evenings. 2 Swimming pools listed as adults only but always had kids in them and they were very dirty too. Nice hotel in general, rooms clean, entertainment...hotel standard. Theme restaurants ok but not enough food and took ages !

Room Tip: near the main lobbies, there are 4 in total, Colonial or White Sands are closer to amenities

Wow where to start. We stayed from 16th - 26th July and travelled with friends. I think after reading the reviews prior to going the other holidaymakers must have stayed at another hotel.

Check in - Easy and quick and we was given a room in the Colonial, which after reading reviews about how old fashioned they were my heart sunk, we had nothing to worry about, the room was lovely, clean, big with flat screen TV, I-pod dock, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus a fridge with beer and soft drinks that was stocked up daily. Our safe had been left shut so we couldn't use it 1st night but no drama as they changed it for us the next day, I did leave things out in the room and they weren't touched so very safe.

The restaurants/bars - There are the main buffet restaurants, which have a vast choice of good food which changes daily for the evening meal. The Ala carte restaurants are amazing, 2 of them you have to book for but the others you just turn up, if you want to eat early then I suggest you go when they open and if there is a waiting list they give you a buzzer which lights up when you table is ready. Males have to wear long trousers in these and they are strict about it. We tried the Mexican (La Adelita), Steak House x 2 (El Dorado), Ribs and More x 2 (American and my favourite), Italian (Portofino), Brazilian (Rodizio). The last 3 are in the Riviera but its only about a 5-10 minute walk or alternatively you can get the buggies that drive round all day.
We used the beach bar and swim up bar mainly in the daytime and the Colonial bar in the evening. The staff are amazing especially Luis behind the bar, Lucy and Irma are brilliant waitresses, nothing was to much trouble for them, a credit to your hotel. Alot of the drinks are name brands plus Champagne is also included (which you can have at breakfast!!) and a very yummy cocktail menu.

Entertainment - 2 shows every night, 1 in the colonial and when that has finished the other 1 is in the Riviera, so jump on the train and go across to it. They are repeated over a 2 week period but it didn't bother us as the shows were very good and we enjoyed watching them each night. The staff here work so hard and seem to enjoy what they do. Very friendly and do try to get you involved but if you say no then they leave you alone. We don't have children but it looked like the kids club/entertainment was very well organised.

Pools/Beach - We used the main pool in Colonial/Kantenah and the beach. We found beds quite easily the 1st week but once half term started in UK it got very busy although you can find the odd spare bed and move to area you require. The main pool is where the daytime entertainment takes place so if to noisy for you then there are other pools around the complex plus adult only ones. Beach is very clean and nice if you want a breeze. Take swim/beach shoes as it is fairly rocky to get into the sea. The water in pools and sea is very warm. There are a lot of activities to do on the beach and my husband really enjoyed the snorkelling especially at the salt pool.

Grounds - The hotel is in the Jungle and has a lot of walkways through the trees etc. which is really nice and very well looked after. They have Flamingos/crocodiles on site plus all the other wildlife... Fish, pretty butterflies/birds, Iguanas, Coatis, Agoutis and mosquitos !!! Take lots of spray with minimum 50% deet, we took an antihistamine daily which seem to help as normally we get bitten to pieces but seemed to be very lucky.

Weather - It was fantastic but very humid, which can take your breath away on occasions. We had one daytime storm which lasted about 30 - 45 minutes and a couple of evening storms, pretty awesome to watch. Apparently they have 40 days of really hot weather and we experienced 5 of those days and it got hotter and hotter so I dread to think what the temperature would've been by day 40. Make sure to drink plenty of water to stop dehydration as it is very hot.

Lindsey was our First Choice rep and she is extremely friendly and helpful and is based on site most days, if she isn't there the Paulo is, who is equally the same. We booked to go to Xel-Ha and our friends went swimming with dolphins and Lindsey arranged it so we could go on the same private bus with them instead of the coaches that goes around the other hotels.

Overall - This is an amazing place, very big resort with lovely grounds and staff work very hard. I reckon it is probably the best all inclusive hotel we have been to and if we didn't like to try different places then we would go back as have no complaints at all.

Room Tip: We stayed in 4207 which was 2nd floor, not much of a view but then you don't spend that much tim...

Beautiful destination. We stayed here June 7-14th for my son's senior trip. This was perfect for us all because the graduated seniors were able to have a great time and so were the adults. The resort is huge. Several great restaurants - mexican was my favorite. The spa was a fantastic experience.

This hotel is the best that I and my family have ever stayed in and believe me - we have had some fantastic holidays!! The hotel itself is large which is connected from the rooms to the lobby areas/restaurants via beautiful mangroves which you walk through over quaint wooden bridges. There are crocodiles and flamingos on secure areas near the lobbies and also around the grounds you will see Iguanas, large crabs, raccoons - and many other species of little creatures. This adds to the whole atmosphere and the children not to mention we as adults, loved it. The food is excellent with huge variety, snacks and lovely throughout the day and the cocktails are lush! Make sure you visit the themed restaurants as the food is of very high quality and caters for all tastes. From Brazilian, to Seafood, American diner experience to Italian - and many more. We booked into one of these for 10 of our 14 nights as we could not believe the quality we were receiving. The buffet evening restaurant provides just about every dish you can think of and you will certainly come back several pounds heavier since the puddings as so delicious! The evening entertainment was really professional and the dancers are very, very good, giving excellent shows every night. The best night was when the non dancing staff did their show as I have not laughed so much in years - make sure you see this one! Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are large, very clean and very well equipped with a mini bar which is restocked each day. During the evenings, the routes to the restaurants are littered with local talents in the shape of glass blowing, bracelet making, picture painting etc, which is a really nice touch. They are not pushy but polite and eager to show you how talented they are. The pools are huge, clean and well managed via the lifeguards and around the pool and on the beach you have the opportunity to hold monkeys, toucans, iguanas, - all to have your picture taken which you can buy later and they are very good pictures. We did not use the kids club as my daughter prefers to spend her time with us in the pool, but it looked well organised as we saw them going to the different activities. The kids club also put on a short show one evening before the main entertainment and the children loved it. It is a very child orientated hotel and all the activities are tailored to ensure the full family have the best time ever. The beach is beautiful with tropical fish swimming around your feet when in the ocean, and the sand is white against the turquoise sea. Again the staff at the beach facilities are very helpful and organised, eager to ensure you have all you want with regards to food, drinks and also water sports. Check out the sea water pool where you can snorkel with the fish - fab!!!
Very good value for money. The weather was fab, but to be honest the hotel is the best hotel we have stayed at and we will definitely be booking again - to go to the same hotel!

Room Tip: The rooms in general are large with excellent air con. If you have trouble walking then maybe ask f...
