Our 2nd trip to this resort and the 5th to a Palladium ( 3 times in Puerto Vallarta and 2 here).
Last time the Riviera, this time Colonial. As far as we can tell there are no places on the 5 section resort that are better than the other. It all depends on what you prefer to be close to (Beach, pool, lobby etc).
Same great service and food (although they REALLY need to keep the food hot because it seems to be cold almost always).
About 99% of the waiters and waitresses are super nice but we did come across 2 nasty ones this time (both females). One of which who actually gave me a problem twice because I wanted to sit in a certain section of the restaurant. Wife wanted a section close to the window and it was wide open both times. I should not be grilled why I would like to sit there.

Resort was spotless but we did see an empty listerine bottle (thrown there by some loser) for 2 days on the lawn which was strange for such a tidy resort. With so many workers running around it is hard to believe it was missed for 2 days.
Keep in mind that this is Mexico, so the rooms are good for Mexico. Don't expect first class New York rooms.

Air Transat was great in all aspects.

Bartenders were great. Drinks were always good.

Shows were awesome as usual. I give those guys so much credit.
They work SO HARD !

It was on the night of Saturday, March 9 that I saw the best performance I ave ever seen live.
In the portion of the COLORS show at 9 pm at the Colonial for Argentina they put on a drum show which is really good in itself but the main performer (which I knew his name) puts on a simply incredible percussuion show with these balls on the end of ropes. AMAZING ! ! !
The guy belongs in Las Vegas !

Best people there........all the waiters at the RIBS AND MORE and the all the Guest Services staff. Also, the guy who drives the pontoon boat tour really goes out of his way to make it a nice little tour. Nice guy

Can't say enough about the Palladium.

We will keep going back again and again !

My wife and I travelled here for our 22nd wedding anniversary from January 27th to Feb 4th, 2013. We were very happy when we arrived to find out that we were upgraded to a suite. This is the second time we've been surprised with an unexpected upgrade when we booked with Orbitz. This resort is absolutely beautiful, it's quite large, but the shuttles are always around if you don't like to walk. We walked almost everywhere. If you can handle walking for 10 minutes, you can get anywhere in that amount of time. The food was excellent and the service was also excellent. We slept very well every night. My ONLY complaint would be this, the air conditioner was leaking water in the hallway and I had to call 3 times to get someone to fix it. The next day it was leaking again. Then our card wouldn't work to get into our room. This took the better part of the day to be repaired. I was a little frustrated because we had to walk to and from the lobby several times. The maintenance people were very friendly, but quite slow to react. Then, the next day there appeared to be a sewer backup that came bubbling up in our toilet and sink. They fixed that and there were no other issues as far as repairs go. These things may seem quite troubling but they really didn't put a damper in any way on our trip. We really loved the resort and had a great time. We went on 2 excursions, one to Tulum/Coba ruins and one to Puerto Morelos for some snorkelling. The ruins at Coba aren't as pretty as Tulum but you can climb on the Coba ruins which is breathtaking considering the large pyramid is approx 43 metres tall. you can see a good portion of the Yucatan from the top. We used a private company for the airport transfer and the excursions, it's called AGI Tours, they were EXCELLENT!! I would recommend them to anyone. Two years ago we stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe in Riviera Maya and this resort is every bit as good. I would go back to this resort in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: If possible, stay in the "Riviera" section of the resort. We walked around the whole resor...

UK holiday makers beware of Thomson flights! We booked this holiday with First Choice holiday. They use Thomson air planes, which are a total rubbish including the staff that work on them. the flight was HELL!!! Incredibly rude and arrogant staff to all of the passengers!! On 11 hour flight you have to pay for a glass of water, out of 5 working toilets only one worked, you had to line up 45 minutes to go to the washroom. Broken sits, broken TV’s, run out of food, delays both way, 0 apologies or explanation for any of it. Simply ridicules!

But the First Choice staff working at the resort in Mexico – were fantastic.

We stayed at the Grand Palladium in Mexico for 2 weeks in February. What a treat to get away from cold winter if you can. We were upgraded to junior suit in White Sands resort. It’s nice, it came with two double beds, has a large Jacuzzi bath etc. however it needs bit of tlc. the bathrooms are bit rundown. But rooms kept clean.
Last year we stayed in Grand Palladium Punta Cana Dominican Republic and expected the same 5* quality, however, I must say Mexico Grand Palladium resort is only 4*
A lot of lovely al carte restaurants to eat in, we only went to buffet for dinner ones. (just go early as you may have to wait for an hour or so) the buffet food was really nice as well, we used the Colonial for breakfasts and sometime for lunch.
You can get lunch by the pools or beach as well very convenient with lots of verities of foods. We used the White sands pool as it wasn’t as busy as the Colonial, but it did have a very annoying animation guy that loved his voice too much and kept on shouting on to the microphone for most of the morning, even when doing aqua aerobics!
Beach bit disappointing it does have lots of corals so take swimming shoes.
The upkeep by the pool area and the beach was NOT good. Dirty and most of the lounge chairs were broken, loungers tables with drink spills cigarette buds and rubbish all over the beach, drink spills by the pool area were creating masses of ants crawling all over you and your things.
The White Sand reception unfriendly and bar staff was not that great, one barman especially, works most of afternoon’s he would totally ignore you unless you were holding on to some dollar bills. Colonial bar was a lot better, and if you tip them they would always remember you and serve you strait away and put enough booze to tip you over the edge.

The wild life was fantastic! You are staying in the middle of a jungle so you will be able to see a lot of really neat animals.
Evening entertainment was really good, it had professional dancers. They were amazing, in Cirque du solei’s style.
Over all it was nice holiday, but I want go back to Mexico, its not the same as I remember from 12 years ago, beaches are very rundown. But if you want amazing holiday with fabulous beaches and 5* service go to Palladium in Punta Cana Dominican Republic, same money and its lot better in every way.

This was my second stay at the Grand Palladium. Upon arrival, we did not get cocktails or a cold towel as I have seen mentioned by others. The staff did not recognize this as our second stay either...The room was fine, average but we had to call on day three to get it cleaned? We also made the mistake of paying for WIFI in our room, but were constantly bumped off by the people in the lobby and had very low signal strength. The food was boring, and one night I chose to eat M & M's rather than eat what the buffet had to offer. There were several times we went without any beverages for any meals!! We finally decided on getting our own beverages (while the employees talked with each other and ignored us).We felt invisable to the staff!! The adult pools are not adult, we were there several times and noticed families with small children taking advantage. All in all the grounds are wonderful! We loved the walking and observed several creatures about, we did not feed them as others were doing. We will be going back to Mexico as we do every year, but needless to say, the service has went down since our last stay (2011) and the Grand Palladium will not be getting our return business. There are other resorts that welcome their guests (new and return) and would love to have our $$$$

Swimming pool and shows are great. Food is very good. But the service and the actual accommodations are not worth what you pay for. You can get the same quality at a least a third less of the price. All rooms have only double beds and not big enough unless you are a couple. I had a family of four with two sons (14 and 16) and they could not fit in a double bed. Great for couples that can snuggle but not great if you cant. You are paying 5 star rates and getting a 3 star accommodations.

We went for our honeymoon in May 2012. It was perfect. The resort was like paradise. The food was amazing, the selection was never ending. The amount of restaurants and bars available was fantastic. I cannot fault this result at all. It rained a couple of times but it was refreshing from the heat. The resort is like a nature reserve and there are lots of animals to see. Not so sure about the sting rays in the sea though! Our room was fab, no views but we were hardly ever in it so didn't care. I want to go back every year!! Love it. Will never forget it.

What a fantastic hotel, we went with friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We only did one trip as we needed to chill, we all own Guest Houses in England and so especially appreciated the way this hotel was run. The complex was amazing, so clean, such friendly staff and stunning grounds with cute animals. Great beach with plenty of sunbeds and shade if needed, staff kept the beach and pool areas immaculate, just a great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine and sea. Staff in the restaurants worked so hard, looked very smart, as did all the staff and always ready with a smile to greet you. The only criticism we had was that the food in the buffet restaurant was often cold or luke warm, always difficult in a buffet restaurant serving so many guests but was a health issue, Would definitely go to a hotel in the same group again, we were very impressed. Thank you for such a wonderful holiday destination. February 2013

Room Tip: We were a little way from main hotel area but it was quiet and we appreciated the covered walkways...
