We stayed here for just 2 nights on our recent 10 day trip to the area. We originally had a 2 bedroom, but were upgraded to a 3 beroom because of some repairs. The unit was beautiful, large, clean and in a perfect location overlooking half moon bay. The view out our second floor balcony was spectacular. I cannot say enough about this condo - it was perfect. The only downside to the half moon bay area is, of course, the rocks and difficulty entering the water in this area. We were aware of this fact, but if you are not, it can be a problem for most. Water shoes are a must in Half Moon Bay. This pace is close to a small store for drinks etc. and also within walking distance from La Beuna Vida. The best beach bar in the world (my opinion). PS>>>> we paid only $140 a night for a 2 bedroom condo (upgraded to 3Bedroom) on the beach.....can't beat that. Enjoy !!!!!!

We had a fabulous stay at VDM. We had booked a 2 bedroom condo, but were moved to a 3 bedroom in the north building because they were doing maintenance. The condo was fabulous. There was plenty of space and it had everything you need. Each of the three bedrooms had it's own bathroom, which is great if you have several couples or children. The master bathroom also had a jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom had a queen bed and also had it's own private entrance in addition to the entrance from within the condo. It also had a small balcony on the back side of the building. The third bedroom had a full bed and a twin. We were by ourselves, so we only used the master. The master had levered doors between the bathroom and the bedroom and also between the bedroom and the living room. I guess that could be a little weird if you were staying with other couples, but not a big deal. The living area was nice and they had most things you would need to cook meals. The AC worked very well. Most days we didn't even need it and it was July. The breeze off the water was great. The condo was cleaned everyday very well. The large balcony is great and we could watch the turtles swimming in the late afternoon and early morning each day. the gentleman that worked at reception was always very friendly and very helpufl. La Buena Vida is a great place to have drinks and a meal. We spent many afternoons there. There is a large group of coatimundis that live across the street and one of vendors feeds them in the evening. So cool to so many in one place, especially the babies. We also rented bikes for the time we were there and they were great to have. It would be quite a walk to walk into Akumal several times a day and the bikes made it simple. We also rode our bikes over the highway in the pueblo. Half Moon Bay and Akumal are great places to relax and unwind. We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: They all have a fabulous view of the ocean.

VDM is not fancy but it was clean and comfortable. It is steps from the water and walking distance to a little convenient store & La Buena Vida. We stayed in a suite & the balcony was AMAZING! It had a table & 2 chairs for dining, 2 lounge chairs & a hammock! It looks right over half moon bay. The room wasn't posh but it was clean & had everything we needed- a bed, a small kitchenette, a giant bathroom & best of all- windows/sliding glass doors along the whole wall so we could watch the sunrise from bed. The room had plenty of storage, a safe, a/c, tv. My only complaints are that the room doesn't have any seating other than the bed- a small chair would be a great addition and maybe an extra pillow or two on the bed. The front desk guy was friendly & helpful & the housekeeper was good. Walking distance to everything & they even rent bikes if you want. Half Moon Bay is a very quiet, beach area. Nice to relax & read a book.
We are the types of travelers that would love to always stay in a posh, luxury resort, but we just can't afford that all the time. We tend to stay at places that are clean & well reviewed and VDM fits the bill. For the money- you can't beat it. My friend has stayed in VDM many times. She recently stayed in the "condo" and said it was really great!

We stayed at Vista del Mar Norte in condo #F for 3 nights in June and loved it! We had plenty of room for 4 people and the staff were great about checking in to clean each day if we needed it. We appreciated the vibrant colors, the spacious layout and the full kitchen. Our view was wonderful, and we loved waking up to the sound of the ocean. The beach out front is very beautiful and peaceful. Akumal is a lovely little town and we enjoyed exploring what we could on foot from the condo. It is an easy walk to the corner store, a delicious restaurant and some little shops. If you are looking for a little oasis on the beach, this is a great choice!

We stayed here for 10 nights on the Hotel side. We had ground floor right next to the Store. For 9 of the 10 nights, we were the only ones in the Hotel, needless to say it was very quiet...which is what we were looking for. My husband and I have decided that we are not All-Inclusive people (don't like crowds)
The rooms are a decent size with nice decor, the only downside to the room was no dresser in the room, lots of closet space. Coffee maker, bottled water, fridge and T.V. as well as safe in room. Bathroom had sink, toilet and shower, everything worked well and was in good condition. Patio had table and chairs and this is where the WIFI worked best.
The beach is very nice with coarser sand than Akumal Bay, this is a rocky bay so make sure you have good sturdy water shoes for the water. We didn't use our fins when we snorkeled because it is quite shallow in the bay and it would have stirred up the bottom or done damage to the reef. Lots of fish, turtles and a few stingrays were seen under and above the water, this bay can get rough if the wind gets up due to the damage to the reef. The hotel staff were very friendly, everything was kept clean around the property as well as the maid did a great job of cleaning our room. You can rent bikes there (we never did, we walked to town) as well you can arrange to have a massage done (found out to late for this one and went into the Spa in Akumal). The store was well stocked with food, coffee, alcohol, snacks and mango popsicles (the best).
Yal-Ku Lagoon was incredible, it is a 15 minute walk and $9 US to get in per adult. The water was very clean and clear and loads of different fish. There are lockers and change rooms and they are very strict on the bio-degradable sunscreen.
La Bueno Vida Restaurant was great, a very casual atmosphere downstairs around the beach and bar area. There is an upstairs that you could use if you were a little more dressed up and wanted to stay out of the wind. Food was great and lots of variety.
The town of Akumal is about a 15 - 20 minute walk from the hotel. there are two stores which sell grocery, alcohol and souviners. There is a laundry mat there that if you have your clothes in by 8am they are ready by 6 pm they are expensive but worth it. Dive shops are in both bays and seemed to do a good business. Akumal Bay has wonderful sand and we found that the snorkeling seemed to be the best here. Lots of large turtles and stingrays and loads of fish, the only drawback was very crowded with day trippers and snorkeling groups.
This hotel and location was exactly what we were looking for this vacation, a quiet small property that had a beautiful location.......
