Description: Altho this restaurant is listed in Cancun, it actually is on the main road across from Half Moon Bay in Akumal, Mexico. It is newly opened and has excellent, inexpensive food. Gina, who runs the restaurant makes the best guacamole this side of Guadalajara & her pita rellenos are the best! She is open from 12 noon to 8 p.m. and also delivers! What more could you ask for! Enjoy this delicious menu without leaving the beach!

“Best meal we had on our trip!”

Mango Curry Lionfish! Yum. My favorite meal of the week. So unique and tasty. My husband had Lionfish tacos and he doesn't even like fish and loved them. We ate their 2 times. Our waiter was friendly but could have used a visit from Gynna who was there but choose not to come and see how we liked our food.

“Horrible, rude owner and overpriced, slightly off food.”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

We went to Gynn'ak expecting the food to be of a standard, due to the extremely expensive menu. We had fish tacos which were small, soggy and the fish tasted and smelt off - like it had been sitting around for a few days at least. On the menu it said "battered, fried fillets" of fish, but in reality it was small shreds of slimy flesh. We also had the cerviche which was nothing but poorly prepared salsa with very small sheds of smelly, slightly off fish. Both of these dishes cost over $10USD EACH.

This isn't to mention the horrible, brash and rude owner/chef Gynna. She was loud and walked around the restaurant as if we weren't even there. Even after we attempted to make conversation with her, she just ignored us. She was completely entitled and very loudly and repeatedly swore and shouted at people passing in cars. She even had her two dogs at the restaurant, moving freely into the kitchen area where the food was prepared.

This is one of the worst meals I have had in a very long time. Overpriced. Unclean. And horrible RUDE entitled owner who doesn't deserve the good reviews she has been given on trip advisor.

“Yummy, Lion Fish!!!”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Small little side restaurant. My husband was snorkling in Half Moon Bay and took pictures of a Lion Fish. We were so impressed that we saw such an exotic fish here on the bay. Well this little restaurant will tell you a thing or two about he Lion Fish! And they prepare it so deliciously. Found it a little pricy but we did have a couple beer each. But the taco's there were really good. The dessert was plantain bananas with a caramel sauce and the most tasty mango sherbert!!! Amazing!
Before we leave I will definatly eat there again!

“Neat idea”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

As divers, we appreciate those trying to help eradicate non-native lion fish. We had some great lion fish in Cozumel last year (La Perlita) and when I heard that the chef here was hunting and preparing lion fish we wanted to eat here. https://www.facebook.com/lionfish.hunter.3

The atmosphere is very informal, a palapa by the road. Menu hand-written on chalkboard.
I thought the lion fish ceviche was highlight. Very fresh tasting and light.

The lion fish fliets were served a few ways, I had it with curry. It was tasty but if you have seen a lion fish you know it was a small serving.

Budget $20 per person with drinks. I would eat here again.
