If you are new to snorkeling this is a great place in the Akumal area. It a protected lagoon so there is no surf action. Lot's of fish to see, but no coral. It is a little expensive to get in, Jan 2014 is was $14 US for adults and $10 US for kids and they do not let you bring in any food or drink. If you are staying on Half Moon bay that is fine since you have in/out privileges all day so can hop back for lower cost food.

We liked visiting this place, I loved the sculptures. I had researched about it before we left, and then it was also recommended to visit this spot by my brother. My research had showed the rates to be 75 pesos for entry, but it was actually 12 usd for entry, plus you really do need a locker here.

We went early on New years day (opens late), and snorkeled for 2 hours. Really enjoyed the masses of fish (more than off of Akumal) and the light showing through the depths. Everything is separately priced--so bring your own equipment if you have it with you to save money. I wish we did not have to wait 30 minutes to move through a short line, however am still glad that we went.

This was a pretty little lagoon with some colorful fish and coral, but it was way overpriced for an hour snorkel! I would not recommend paying to swim in this lagoon over a beautiful snorkel in Akumal bay!

This is a beautifully maintained spot and amazingly alive with all variety of fish. The snorkeling is really excellent. It is a fairly large area, so we wound up staying several hours - you can come out of the water between swims and sit among the lovely sculptures and along the edges of the lagoon. The admission is somewhat expensive, but truly worth it as clearly a lot of care goes into the grounds and keeping everything healthy.
