overall it's a good place for families. we rented a palapa (thatched roof canopy) which allowed some shade and space for our kids. the water was a bit murky by late-afternoon, and the rock formations were cool.... it allowed you to swim and have a much different feel than a typical coral/reef.

We've been here a few times and always love it. There's always lots to see and the swimming is safe for children. It's not cozumel, but it is a great day out for a little snorkelling adventure. For the price, you can't go wrong!!!!

We spend a couple hours here one morning. Took a taxi from Bahia Principe for $22US, $12US admission/adult. Worth it. We saw lots of different fish, but what I liked most was swimming through all the big rocks and small openings between them.

The sea was a red flag. This is a protected area away from the waves and wind. A fun time in the lagoon full of fish and very family friendly.

We found the price to be steep, $12 USD for adults and $9 for children before rental of gear. The water was cloudy possibly due to windy weather but plenty of small fish, no large ones. We arrived at opening yet still found it crowded. You can snorkel for free at half moon bay(the northern end) and see plenty of small fish. We snorkelled at akumal bay for free and saw turtles and a barracuda! Okay if you are a non swimmer or not confident.
