“Never fails to amaze”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

Came here with our "family" of four and it was amazing. The cost is $8 US pp but don't let that stop you as the snorkeling is to die for. Lot of fish and great photo opportunities. Water is calm and the grounds are pretty with benches and shade. Don't miss this place !!!,!,

“Snorkel for children”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

Yal Ku Laguna: once you get to Akumal, pass the arch and keep on the road (to the left). After (I´d say) 2 km you´ll see signs to Yal Ku Laguna.
The entrance fee is a bit over US$ 10 (if you don´t have snorkel, life vest, you can rent it there). I recommend a life vest for a better enjoyment.
There´s a lot of fishes, and it´s great specially for younger kids (my youngest is 4 years-old), as it´s completely safe. It´s in a very closed bay, and there´s a reef on it´s entrance.
It´s a must see for adults who don´t want to get in a boat to the see lots of fishes and for children.
Parking is free.

“Incredible”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

You won't regret this activity if you decide to go. My family of two children aged 12 and 15 spent the entire day there. I would recommend spending the money and renting a pop-up and packing a picnic lunch. We brought magazines, drawing stuff and spent time relaxing in the hammock when we weren't in the water snorkeling amongst the most incredibly beautiful waters and fish.
Don't miss out on this experience it was absolutely incredible. I would suggest going to really in the morning and nabbing a pull-up bar close to an entry point in the lagoon. There was only one point when we felt a little inundated with people when a few tumors went through but that was short-lived and we spend much of the time with just the four of us in the water.

“Fun Snorkeling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

The lagoon has a strange thermo/halocline where the water from the cenotes mix with the ocean water. This means that the water on the surface is very cold but the bottom is quite warm. It makes you want to dive down and stay there for a long time! There are nice coral reef fish hanging out around the boulders, with some schools of more pelagic fish going by.
You can rent a palapa (cabana) and stay the whole day or just got to snorkel for an hour or two.
