With the new Secrets Akumal going in and the enlargement of the Akumal Beach Resort, we can say goodbye to Akumal Bay... As with so much of the corprate-travel industry, they will wind up killing the very thing they wish to exploit... Farewell, Akumal Bay; we hardley knew ye...

You can get a boat trip to do snorkelling. Busy beach with cafes. There are several scuba schools here. The shops are behind the beach. There are at least 2 largish minimarkets. There is an expensive art/craft shop on the beach. There is a resort hotel on the beach to the south and lots of little hotels and condos.

This place is incredible. We snorkeled with the sea turtles. It was awesome. You have to do this. Only $25 per person. This is the best bang for your buck around. We were out there for a long time. It was spectacular.

We spend a wonderful noon at Akumal beach and saw a lot of turtles right in front of us. The beach it just wonderful. Unfortunately I lost my digital camera at the beach. But Akumal also has wonderful people and so I got it back from the lifeguards of Akumal, that saved it for me. Thanks a lot for this service an greetings from Germany!

I came to Akumal beach to swim with the turtles and I was not disappointed. I saw 6 turtles and sting rays as well. The fish in the sea over the coral beds are beautiful, the sand is pure white. The beach is beautiful. A must for snorkellers and beach lovers.
