We were greeted at check in with a cool drink. very nice.
From there it was all good..........
Lovely spacious bedroom, large walk in shower.
Only negatives, were ... 1. need more drawers (bedside cabinets not enough). 2. Full length mirror needed. 3. More hangers (due to lack of drawers).
Service everywhere was great. Waitress service on beach was very attentive. Transportation between any area was excellent as never had to wait longer than a few minutes.
The a la carte restaurant in Sian Kaan was just delicious, but so was the buffet restaurant, the choice and quality here was exceptional.
Especially the Gala dinner on Saturday. Do Not Miss This Meal.
The shows we watched at Coba were very enjoyble. The group in Hacienda each evening was also very enjoyable. Disco in Hacienda was also good.
Summary WOW, Loved It :-D

Dear Guest,

Thanks to you for choosing us as you hotel destination and for sharing your experience. For the Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an is an honor to read that this was your best All Inclusive experience.

We are glad that you enjoyed the service, tram service, a la carte restaurants, buffet, shows, room, discotheque and the night life entertainment at the Hacienda Doña Isabel.

For the minimal style of the hotel, it is not possible to have more drawers however we will keep in mind your suggestions for the future, if there is a possibility to improve them.

Thank you for sharing your pictures, are really nice.

Looking forward to welcome you in the future,

There's almost too much good to say about the Grand Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an. Though the name is a mouthful, once you arrive at this resort get ready to relax your troubles away. From the opening margarita to our farewell banana pina colada, the service at Grand Bahia was spectacular.

Being part of a gay couple, we are used to our share of funny looks the moment we leave the New York City area. Unfortunately this did happen occasionally during our stay, but at no fault of the resort's staff. Every single time we passed a cleaning person, waitress, or maitre d' we were greeted with a smile and an "hola!" All of the employees at this resort are either trained extremely well in customer service or are just plain happy. It really added to the experience and us feeling welcome.

The beach left a little to be desired. Though it was a bit short and rocky and the wave breakers were not the most beautiful attraction, the water was crystal blue, the palapas and beach chairs were clean, the wait staff on the beach were amazing (special props to our girl Lorena) and if you walked just a bit down the beach from the private Sian Ka'an area you got the typical long, soft sandy beach you may be looking for.

The rooms.... book the penthouse! It's well worth it. For just $20 extra a night you get a duplex room complete with a roof top hot tub and sunning area. We made use of this every night being sure to return from dinner and fill it up as soon as possible. It takes a little while, but most good things do.

The food.... at the buffets you have to pick and choose a bit but that's true of any buffet. The breakfast was excellent including flowing champagne, fresh fruit and juices, eggs cooked to order and giant piles of bacon. We went to both a la carte restaurants, Maiko and Alux. Alux was a bit too.... New York for the resort including things like parmesan foam which we felt were a bit over the top. However, the quality and taste of the food at Maiko were top notch. I never thought I'd get such delicious sashimi on our resort. It was so good that we booked a second night in a row there, the second being our last night.

Some people on here complained about the shuttles... The carts showed up every 5 minutes as promised bringing you wherever you needed. The frequency was enough I can't imagine anyone complaining about not being right on the beach. Just stand by the lobby and presto, they arrive in minutes.

If you're going to plan an excursion make sure you go to Akumal. We took a taxi after some bartering and $8 later we were in the Akumal Dive Shop paying $25 for a tour of the cove and sea turtles. It was just the two of us which was pretty amazing so make sure you go early. Our guide even took pictures with an underwater camera and sent them to our email addresses for free!

This vacation was a dream and wiped away my fears of going to a resort as a gay couple. Sure we got a few looks every now and again, but who cares? We enjoyed ourselves, the staff and food was amazing, beach and penthouse were luxurious and I couldn't have asked for more. Go to Sian Ka'an!

We have returned from a 7 day stay at the Sian Kaan. The hotel is modern, a zen design, very big rooms, with a wall of glass in colours beige an brown, very relaxing. The food is the Alux is as good as a four star restaurant in Montreal. The service was exceptionel everywhere. Everything was perfert, but be aware that this hotel is far from the beach, but there is transportation every 15 minutes and a section of the beach is reserved for the clients of the Sian Kaan.
As a whole the trip was wonderful and I wouldn't change anything.

Room Tip: We were in the building 9b and it was very quiet as requested.

This hotel offered the best service we have experienced. From the moment we checked-in, we were greeted with outstanding service. The buffet offered a variety of options (kudos to Blanca for taking such good care of us), the waiters in the bar area were always available to take our drink requests, and our room was always clean. The only item that I wish we had known about was that the rooms with double beds are truly beds that were a little bigger than a twin size bed. There were 3 in our party and two of us had to share a bed which was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, our vacation was spectacular.

Room Tip: The rooms that offer double beds are not full size; they are twin size.

we have just returned after a 10 day stay at Sian Kaan and wanted to share our wonderful experience that we had there.

firstly I want to thank Brisa for arranging our meal requests and that we wanted 2 rooms next to each other which she duly sorted, we were in villa 17 and had the top 2 penthouse suites, the rooms were just great and of course the rooftop terrace with the jacuzzi was fantastic, some others have said they take around 1 hour to fill up but we had ours done in 20 minutes. Although block 17 was at the far end of the complex it didnt really cause any problems as the walk to the lobby area helped to either work up an appertite or work one off lol.

as others have mentioned the staff here are as helpful and friendly as you could find, the only place we found the staff less than freindly was at the Tequilla in Akumal but thats the only time we found this.

we of course knew the arrangments beforehand regarding the beach and the other hotels and had no problems at all with the buggys/trolleys getting to and fro, one thing we hadnt heard before we went was that as well as gettijng a trolley to the other hotels once there you could also catch a trolley to any of the resteraunts, just be careful when you change as one night we were 30 minutes late for our dinner at Grand Tortuga as we got the trolley to Tulum then one of the drivers said he was going to Gran Tortuga only for us to end up at Akumal, we were then told we were on the wrong trolley so had to go back to Tulum to get the right one !!!, you do have to ask a few times to make sure.

We decided when we were there to make some additions to our meal pans and had no trouble getting these sorted out, we actually cancelled one of our meals at Alux as we all found that although the food was very good there wasnt that much variety especially for our vegatarian guest, also and this is just a personal view we found Alux a bit bland as its really just a glass square building with no charater whereas the places in tulum and Akumal seemed more Mexian in apperance with Frutos del Mar & Dolce Vita both having wonderful table placings making them look very elegent.

We did make a trripto the ruins at Tulum, got the chap at the lobby to get us a cab and he took us to the ruins, waited for us and then we asked if he coud take us the Paradise Beach, however he told us that was very busy and suggested a small hotel right on the beach just on the same road called the Vitta Bella, just to say we enjoyed our few hours so much here we went back a few days later and spent quite a while there just soaking up the sun on their loungers on one of the best beaches we have ever visited, we had lunch and some drinks there and it was trully wonderful and relaxing.

we managed to play golf a few times and just to let you know the cost was $65 in the morning and $45 per person in the afternoon, my golfijng partner and I both agreed it was one of the most difficult course's we have played but dont let that put you off as the course is fantastic and if you play off whites(6100 yards) it is easier, I agree with others that have said it seems silly that you can get beers in the clubhouse either before during or at the end for free but to get one of the golf cart costs $2 !!!!

not sure what else I can say expect we are already looking to come back next year maybe with the lads for our annual golfing holiday as the experience and value for money at this hotel is hard to beat.

We decided on the Sian Ka'an based on the amazing reviews that it received on this site. And boy, we are so glad that we did!!!!

Like it's name suggests, the hotel is luxury at its finest! The resort is beautiful and simple architecture that makes the other three Bahia Principe resorts (Tulum, Akumal, Coba) look gaudy! It is across the highway (not on beach side) which we were a little worried about but this didn't end up being a big deal at all. The little trams come by all the time and are actually fun to ride. The Sian Ka'an private beach is beautiful but to be honest, most of the time we preferred the pools onsite anyway. Bring snorkeling gear because there are lots of fishes in the water and they swim so unbelievably close to you (water shoes are a great investment too!)! You do need to save beds by the pool early too (around 8 am).

This is the perfect resort for a couple trying to get away. The "adults-only" is a definite plus as it creates a more chill and relaxed environment. The other resorts definitely have a party/screaming-kids feel that we definitely didn't miss on our side.

The staff were so unbelievably friendly here and the other guests seemed just as friendly back. Claudia is amazing and will make sure you get everything you ask for! We emailed her before we landed to book reservations at all the a-la-carte restaurants.

But this leads me into my next point, the food. Now, we booked restaurants in the following order: Maiko (Japanese), Portofino (Italian), Gran Tortuga (Brazilian), Alux (French), Le Gourmet and Don Pablo. We started at Maiko and it was AWESOME and we thanked our lucky stars that we made sure to book the restaurants before we got there. That's where it went downhill. The Portofino was terrible and the Gran Tortuga had good food but had the worse service we have ever had in our lives (the server basically ignored us completely so we ended up leaving without finishing the meal). We thought it might just be a the-other resorts-kinda-thing and we excited to go to Alux (back at Sian Ka'an) but even though the food was good the portions were very, very small. That's when we made a collective decision: the buffet food at Sian Ka'an is SO good it beats most of the restaurants. We decided to skip the rest of the reservations because the buffet always had great service, great staff and great food with something for everyone! It really is that good (But definitely still go to Maiko!). Also drinks at the Don Pablo bar (main lobby) was higher end stuff then we found at the other resorts or by the pools so you definitely have to make sure to go through some of those bad boys. We even got cappuccinos and asked them to put Kahlua in it (to die for!).

This place is also in a great location (although it is 1.5 hours from the airport) for things to do like the Tulum Ruins, Akumal, Xeh-al and lots of cenotes for adventures! The collectivos are really easy to take and cost 30 pesos (~3 US) each. You can just ask the trams to stop near the highway so you can catch one and all you need to know is which side of the highway you need to be on! The resorts offer a Tulum Ruins outing for 30 US dollars which included transportation but it doesn't beat a ~$3x2 collectivo ride + ~$5.70 Tulum Ruins entry fee!

The entertainment on site is definitely lacking but that's because the other resorts have lots of entertainment for you to enjoy. We would recommend paying extra to go to the Mexican Fiesta and the Circus show (at Akumal) as it was surprisingly jaw-dropping!

The gym is really far away and we didn't end up seeing it until our last day there (sad I know). But it is a thing of beauty! Open architecture with stairways moving up and down between trees and salt water pools right in the jungle! They have complimentary classes (yoga, zumba etc) at 8/9 am.

In summary, this place is awesome for a couple seeking a romantic, quiet get-away. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: We asked for a room on a high floor by the sushi bar. This is a really quiet side and was perfect fo...
