We have just got back for 15 nights in Mexico, 8 of which were spent in Akumal at Playa Caribe. It was our favourite part of the holiday and Playa Caribe played a huge part in making it so incredible.

We stayed in number 12, with a sea view. The condo was huge, and we enjoyed turtle spotting from our balcony. It is a 20-25 minute walk from town, but it's a safe easy walk so not a problem for us. Augustine is beyond helpful too, and will rent out bikes if you want them. (we did every day!) We soon got into the habit of strolling into town in the evening via La Buena Vida for happy hour - there is also a shop opposite for beer and other essentials.

The beach outside is patrolled in the evenings by turtle protection people - we were woken up at 5.30am one morning by our security guard, who took us out to the beach to see a turtle laying her eggs.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful place. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and I would go back in a heart beat.

We booked our condo at Playa Caribe through Solmaya Rentals. We arrived walked in to a lovely welcome basket full of fruit, coffee and snacks. The ground level room #1 was perfect for our group. We had 4 ladies and 2 teenage children. It was an easy walk into Akumal we felt very safe after dark.We took advantage of the restaurants near by and had good experiences at all of them.
I would recommend this location and rental company to families singles couples . It is far more relaxing than the big all inclusive resorts with mass produced buffet food. The Mayan Rivera has so many great little places with local food & local cooks. And drinks made from fresh squeezed sugar cane !! Heaven on earth I say :)

We've traveled to Akumal many times. Several all-inclusives and condos. Playa Caribe is perfect! Great location, far enough from the crowds in Akumal central, but close enough for the necessities. Not a good swimming beach, water shoes are a must if you're in the ocean, but Playa Caribe has a pool! One of the very few that does. Attentive staff, comfortable bedding, fully stocked kitchens, clean units with a magnificent view. We stayed in #8, third floor central unit that juts out with a 180 degree panoramic view. Two bedroom, two bath. Several ceiling fans and central A/C. Close walk to La Buena Vida for lunch or dinner and La Lunita. Snorkeling in Akumal central or Yal-Ku or even in front of the condo. We stayed at Playa Blanca #8 as well. Loved that too, but children want pools! This has it all. Couldn't be happier. If you want view choose, #5, #8 or # 11. They're the central units. The others are recessed so the view isn't as sweeping. Our unit also has a slider in the two bedrooms with ocean view instead of being in the back with jungle view. We enjoyed the noise of the surf! Would definitely come back :)

We stayed at the Playa Caribe #7 for a week. Condo #7 is professionally decorated with wonderful views, steps away from Half-Moon Bay. At great "home-base" for enjoying all that the area has to offer. The condos are well cared for; Augustine is a great on-site manager with good tips for places to eat and things to do. There is a small pool which was nice after snorkeling in Half-Moon Bay. Within walking or biking (available for rent) distance to Akumal Bay Beach. These condos are priced slightly (only slightly) higher than other condos on the same beach but we felt it was well worth it. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a stay in unit #11. It was myself, my husband, and 5 year old daughter. We've been to this area before but this was our first time at these particular condos. We were really pleased with Playa Caribe. The view from the balcony is second to none and I love that no matter where you are in the condo, even the bathroom, you can see the ocean. Yes the stairs are a hike, but if you're like me on vacation and eat more than you should then the stairs are very welcome!! Housekeeping was good, but they did come a little late in the day for our liking. We get up very early so we're usually coming back in for a sun break when they're cleaning. The pool was nice, a bit small. The beach is rocky, but we already knew that. It's a quick drive to Akumal main beach, although we prefer Tulum, if you prefer a sandy entry to the water. Over all I would highly recommend this property if you're seeking a condo type vacation.

We searched for months to find "the Place" to stay for our 15th wedding anniversary and celebrations of other family events. We stumbled upon Playa Caribe and from the moment of driving up to it, we fell in love. We stayed in #7 and felt so at home there. The decor is fantastic, the view stunning, and it has every amenity needed within. The service and hospitality of all who work there is amazing. We love everything about Playa Caribe and will be going back next year!!!

We stayed in #6 last week with our three adult daughters:
1) It's in the middle of Half Moon Bay, which is 1km north of Akumal Playa (the town). The beach is somewhat rocky, but it's still beautiful and you can snorkel from it. On 3 of our 7 nights last week we witnessed sea turtles laying their eggs right on our beach. Really !
2) Myrna has furnished the place like a jewel box of green and blue colors, filled with colorful indigenous artworks. The 2nd floor location provides a spectacular view of the ocean.
3) Plenty of room for our family of 5 adults, furnished with any food prep item you'd ever need. Speaking of food prep...we hired Chef Daveed Placentia to prepare Allison's birthday dinner. (His day job is at the Akumal Eco Center.) From snacks, appetizers, entrees to dessert he provides a wonderful gourmet experience for much less than if you go out to eat:
www.i-akumal.com/blog/adr/chef-daveed-personal-chef-service.
4) The pool sits just above the ocean beach, so you can lounge there above the waves and salt water as you sip your margarita.
5) Each bedroom is accessed through an 8' wide opening that closes with folding panels. It provides a more open concept, but noise from the living area isn't muffled at all, so if you go to bed before the rest of your crew you may have trouble sleeping.
6) Don't miss:
- Yal Ku Lagoon, further north down the road for spectacular snorkeling in perfectly clear and calm water. For an extra $20 you get your own palapa (table, hammock, etc.) for the day.
- snorkeling with the sea turtles in Akumal Playa. (No guide needed. Just swim in from the beach.)
