Great side trip. We went and snorkled with the turtles and heard from a local about this place. Slice of heaven. So peaceful, amazing view, hammocks, tree house tables - we didn't want to leave our spot. The food was GREAT! 7 of us had 10 beers 10 cokes 3 appetizers and 7 entrees for $90 american $'s You can't beat that:)

This is a fun outdoor/indoor beachfront restaurant and bar. The theme of it is unique and funky.
The happy hour drinks are good and super reasonable.
All the food we had was yummy and w/ generous portions.
Great place to bring kids, they can play in the sand right at your table or on the beachfront, which some tables look directly over.
Swinging bar stools, lively music, friendly atmosphere.

It was so relaxing here I actually forgot about work for a couple of hours. Each time a wave lapped I'd swear it was adding years to my life. The restaurant was busy for the 2 hours we were there but we were lucky enough to get a table closest to the beach. Though people were all over it somehow still managed to be peaceful and relaxing. The food was awesome and they had Dos Equis which i'd been missing in my Cancun hotel. Visiting this place is worth the car rental cost from Cancun, this is coming from someone living on the coast in California.

La Buena Vida
As we were staying on the North end of Half Moon Bay for 12 days, La Buena Vida became our “go-to” place for dinner. I am the only seafood lover in the group and thoroughly enjoyed the Fresh Catch when offered. I had Mahi-Mahi twice and Grouper once: Grilled with butter and garlic. Good-sized portions too! Wide menu selection satisfied everyone and they were kind enough to give my youngest/pickiest eater penne pasta with Only butter. Arriving at 6PM, we always got a nice table at the edge (by the water) and enjoyed the $3USD Happy Hour (5 to 7 everyday) cocktails. Very Good mojitos (we asked for white rum in lieu of the standard, in these parts, tequila) and Mai Tai’s. In fact, I was impressed the one night when I was told “No Mojitos” since they were out of fresh mint leaves  I would rather have that explanation than be served a sub-standard cocktail! Other entrees that merit mention: Good, simple, Ceviche; Chicken quesadillas (were excellent according to our resident expert); Cochinita pibil tacos; Mango ginger empanadas; and very good Guacamole. In addition, the chips and salsa were Fresh and above average. The only miss was a round of heartburn due to the red sauce on the Yucatecan red enchiladas. As noted in other reviews, the service can be “leisurely” but it’s comfortable enough that we didn’t mind lingering. Tip: It might not be on the menu but they serve an outstanding, unsweetened, iced, green tea.
