This lovely house is the very first into the residential district of Akumal resort and as such is within very easy walking distance of the beautiful beach, several excellent restaurants and a few food and souvenir shops.
The house has every facility that you could possibly want, with friendly and helpful staff that come in at different times of the week. Carlos, the house manager, was really helpful and came around immediately if there was the slightest issue.
The pool is great for lounging around, either all day or just for a quick dip after the short walk back from the beach. (The sun loungers are the most comfortable that I've experienced!)
The three comfortable bedrooms are slightly separate from the main living area, which is great for not disturbing others in your party that may wish to sleep in, but if you have a young family, you might have to rethink sleeping arrangements.
You now have to pay to go onto Akumal beach, but we used to take our swimming gear and go to Lol-Ha for breakfast and then went onto the beach from there.
We had an amazing 9 days here in Casa Esperanza. Thanks!
Casa Esperanza is incredible! Not only is it a beautiful, well appointed vacation rental, it is unbelievably private and the best part, immediately next door to everything you could want in Akumal.
We enjoyed hanging out at the house, cooking, reading, sitting by the beautiful pool and also, slipping on our sandals at any given moment and walking a short distance to fabulous restaurants virtually next door.
Stephanie gave us lots of great recommendations for restaurants and adventures and although we didn't get to everything on the list, we will definitely be coming back and will hit up the missed spots.
We highly recommend Casa Esperanza and will definitely be booking it again next time we are in Akumal.
First and foremost, if you're considering Casa Esperanza for your Akumal getaway, just stop looking elsewhere and book here. My husband and I have stayed in many vacation rental homes and this one takes the cake. Here's why...
Casa Esperanza is beautiful in terms of decor and landscape. You are surrounded by palm trees, tropical plants and flowers. The decor and design is welcoming, stylish and comfortable. There is ample seating both inside and out for your family/friends to enjoy both parts of the house. We spent most of our time on the covered back porch, so the different seating areas were great. Personally, I spent most mornings drinking coffee on the patio by the pool, which was quiet and serene.
Casa Esperanza has 3 separate bedrooms, 2 off the back of the house and 1 off the front. The back bedrooms each have their own bathrooms/showers, more storage and TVs. The front bedroom has a twin bed with a trundle (additional twin) and is a bit smaller without it's own bathroom (you use the one in the main living space and one of the showers in the back bedrooms). The back room that I slept in was large, the bed was really comfy, we got cable TV and the air conditioning and fans were great. As we were there in January, we didn't need the air most of the time due to the amazing breeze and cool temps. I really liked that the bedrooms were separate from the main living space because it kept the areas more private and you could mull around in the kitchen/living room without waking anyone else up!
The kitchen has so much space and everything you'd need to cook a meal, store food, and just feel right at home! There's even a washer and dryer if you happen to need to do some laundry.
One of the best parts, for me, was the proximity to restaurants, stores and the beach. There are at least 4 restaurants less than 5 minutes walk from the house. We ate at Lol-Ha for the most stunning sunrise breakfast view, Taverna for Italian food, and Turtle Bay for dinner (they also have a coffee and ice cream shop, and serve breakfast and lunch). A grocery store, convenience store, souvenir shops and the stunning Akumal beach are all right there!
I really cannot say enough positive things about this house. My one suggestion would be to consider renting a car if you'd like to visit other areas (beaches, cenotes, etc.) nearby or even the other restaurants just around the bend as they are a slightly longer walk.
My husband and I had been to an all-inclusive for our honeymoon 2 years ago. This time we were looking for a spot to chill. CasaEsperanza with its own pool, Netflix on the patio and secluded - was the spot.
The house is gorgeous and had a well equipped kitchen. However, we ate out breakfast lunch and dinner. For breakfast we alternated between Turtle Bay Cafe and Lol-Ha. Both excellent and within walking distance. Taverna was a favorite for dinner due to the menu and wine list.
The locals were awesome. Very friendly and helped me with my Spanish. Even though I took Spanish in school and speak some to patients (I’m a nurse in Dallas) - I needed lots of help.
Early morning walks on the beach was relaxing. We snorkeled with the turtles and at a Cenote. Loved it.
This year we couldn’t stay for Thanksgiving, but plan to go back next year, stay at CasaEsperanza, and try the turkey dinner at Turtle Bay cafe.
This beautiful home is perfect for detoxing from the daily grind. It is so peaceful and yet within a block from the tranquil Beach, awesome locally owned restaurants and bars. The people are so friendly and accommodating. The owner has done a fantastic job decorating this to make you debate wether you want to stay or go out. The AC works great and the pool area is so relaxing. There is also plenty of room to entertain in the main part of the house.
If you have never been to Akumal, this home will make you never want to leave.
Kudo’s to the owners and their workers who made our stay so wonderful. We will be back and soon!!
Spent a fantastic week at Casa Esperanza! The house was super clean and comfortable. Pool area was so relaxing we sat around it each morning to have our coffee and have drinks pool side at night and watched a few shows on the outside TV. The resturants and beach were a two minute walk from the house. Close to everything but still quiet and peaceful. Food was great - never had a bad meal the entire time we were there. Beach was absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go back!!
Casa Esperanza is a wonderful house in a great location. It is a very short walk to the beach and all the restaurants of Akumal. We loved staying here - and the staff is available to make sure that you have everything that you need. It was our first visit to Akumal and Stephanie (the owner) had great suggestions on everything from airport transports, rental cars to restaurants and they were all excellent. The pool and patio is the perfect place to relax in after a day at the beach. I would definitely recommend Casa Esperanza if you are going to visit Akumal!
