Our family totally loved this resort. The food was fantastic the service was excellent and the resort was super clean and safe. We were so fortunate to be there when the turtles eggs hatched and were able to release them to the ocean! What an experience for our 6 and 11 year old!

We visited the Grand Palladium Apr18-25/2014 and had a great time.We were in room 1220 with a oceanview.Very nice property with many amenities. We did a snorkelling trip to Marriteta Island and had a great time, although a lot of jellyfish. The resorts restraunts were excellent, lots of choices for the food menu.We stayed on the property and explored the beautiful beaches and tidal pools.I probably wouldn't go back in April as the Spanish people were celebrating the easter break and the resort was packed. You cant go wrong with this resort for price and value,we also stayed in shape by walking everywhere.Next trip we will be planning will be to Jamaica inJan-feb2015...thanx

Room Tip: any rooms near beach are very quiet

We were there from April 3-10 and the resort was very quiet, which meant never fighting for space, chairs, no food line ups. It was very relaxing!

Rooms: We started in room 2260 which was close to the theatre and disco and the noise was awful the first night. We switched the next day to room 2206 or 2208 which was lovely. The staff were fabulous and showed us 3 rooms to choose from.

Food: The food was mediocre compared to other resorts. Buffets were plentiful but food was not hot. Portofino-the food was sub par in my opinion. Bambu Asian- the food was good and the Mexican restaurant was decent-but the view was spectacular!

This resort is out of town but if you had researched it you would know-we took the ATM bus into Pt. Vallarta and had a great day wandering around the town and it was much cheaper than a taxi.

We also went to Nuevo Vallarta and did the Marietas Island Tour which was very entertaining. The cave snorkle was very cool and the beach beautiful. We saw a mom and baby humpback whale which made it even more special.

You have to remember that it is the Pacific Ocean and not the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea-and the water was also pretty chilly.

The pools were empty when we were there and the adult pool has a great view.

Over all we thoroughly enjoyed our time as a great relaxing get away. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: rooms nearer the ocean are queter

The Grand Palladium, located in Punta de Mita, is on the North end of Bandarias Bay.Approx 45 mins from Puerto Vallarta its nestled a top a small bay overlooking the Ocean. The surrounding countryside has been kept natural which gives it an authentic feel. The resort itself is older, but well kept up, but does give a dated feel on intial viewing ( the road in is terrible..) Since the resort is older, the rooms are somewhat generic/plain while the balcony extremely tiny. The beds were very comfortable and the staff kept the place spotless. The following is what made the resort for us.
The wonderful staff ( arturo, phillpe, martin 1& 2,and luciano to name a few) who quickly grew to know us by name and we always willing answer any questions about the resort, mexico or what have you.
The A la Carte restaurants, Mexican, Japaneese, Steak & Ribs, and Italian all had good selections of meals and all were served with great presentation and outstanding taste..
( The veiw from the patio on the Mexican restaurant at sunset is not to be missed.) The morning buffett was stocked with everything imaginable and made-to-order breakfast standards we available as well as delicious.
The main pool area is the main activity hub for the various activities, but the stereo system was kept down at a reasonable level, making this a fun & relaxing spot.( The activity staff kept it interesting and hopping) However if you just want to be alone and listen to the surf there were lots of palapas's available down on the beach. Unlike Neuevo, where the resort are sandwiched together, here you're the only resort and can walk the beach for a mile or so at low tide. While we were there the surf was pretty consistent so boggie boading, and surfing was definitely something to try. 3rd option was a little hike up the hill to the adults only infinity pool..( the veiw is outstanding)
Evening entertainment was actually very good especially since this isnt that large of a resort. a kids show start around 8pm while the main dance troupe does their theme based shows at 9pm. ( Viva Mexico show was very good) After that, most every night, was a different live band in the courtyard.
The resort ,while a long way from puerto vallarta, is only about 20 mins away from Sayulita which is a small surfing community..makes for an interesting 1/2 day side trip to explore this little mexican town.

Stayed here April 12-19/14. 2 adults and 2 teenagers and met up with family from Toronto. Had an awesome time. Resort is beautiful. Staff amazing, especially the activity staff. Enjoyed lots of the activities. Ate at the Bamboo and Portofino restaurants - excellent. Didn't eat at the other restaurants. Snack Bar by the Pool - OK - food could be hotter ( made to order burgers though) Also in the Main Buffet Dining Room -lots of choices - but they need to figure out their hot plates to make the food hot. There are many options for made- to- order though and this food is hot (loved the stir fried vegetables). Sports Bar had good food choices too. Yes, lots of stairs and walking but these are good for exercise. Pools were fantastic. If you are looking for long walks on the beach, this beach is limited, although beautiful . The man made ocean pool is great. Rooms were ample and kept spotlessly clean. Many bars to choose from. Hemmingways good for quiet area to talk with excellent of choice of drinks. Entertainment staff work hard. Great holiday!

We've been at this resort April 12-April 19. The main reason was the wedding of my step-daughter, and then to have good time with the family and close friends ... about 50 of us in total.

That means quite a big wedding for a destination wedding!!! That means the resort makes money on all the packages sold to the wedding guests, on the generous tips that 50 people leave everywhere (restaurants, bars, maids, valet, etc ...) for an entire week, on the big wedding package as the resort charges more money for such a big group ...

One would think that the resort's administration would be kind of careful with the charges on the bride and the groom! Right?!!! NO, NO, NO! WRONG!!!! The resort's administration says they made a mistake and they have to charge an extra $1000 (exactly the round sum of $1000) with no further explanation!

Got the bride alone to sign a form that she acknowledges about the extra payment. Then in the last two hours before leaving the resort for airport, they threatened the groom with the POLICE AND JAIL when he tried to reason with them! The bride and groom who brought 50 people to their resort, who made them more money than usual for the entire week, who have already paid the initial payment which was presented to them by the EXACT SAME administration hours earlier!

I don't know where the manager of this resort was ... but my question for the manager would have been: would you risk a good reputation and good advertising for $1000 which it was anyways your own mistake?!!!!!

Now about the resort:
1. Distance in what regards the day-trips --- quite far away from everything: south mountains, Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta; so buckle down for a 4 hour round trip to anywhere
2. Grounds: beautiful setting, very nice actually for a wedding, kind of an a hill. Too many stairs, they might have been good for exercising though. Clean everywhere. Infinity pool with a spectacular view. I would not recommend the bar at the infinity pool though, drinks are not good at all there. I would recommend the bar in the lobby and the one at the family pool.
3. Staff: the people were very nice, welcoming, a lot of smiles .... but very poor English for most of them. English isn't my first language, but I manage it. As Mexico is catering a lot for North Americans, I would expect that I don't need to squeeze my brain to remember my few Spanish words!
4. Rooms: we've got the ocean view room at the third floor. Better get one at the second floor because the patio is a bit bigger. The room was good size with everything one needs. The problems were with the AC which cannot be turned down more than their setting, and the fridges were not cooling anything (few people had issues with the AC and the fridges). Someone came by to "fix" the issues ... but the issues didn't go away after he left.
5. Food and drinks: We weren't impressed with the food at any time. It was OK food, but nothing to say "Gosh, that was good!". The best a la carte restaurant was the Bambu, the oriental restaurant. The drinks were OK as well, nothing to die for! The servers in the buffet restaurant were very, very, very, very .... slow .... it takes ages for them to come by and ask what you want ... and then some more until they are back .... not necessarily with the drink you ordered!

All in all, we had a good time because the weather and the grounds were nice, the friends and family company was the best part of the entire trip!!!

Well just arrived back home in Calgary and looking back on good times we had at the resort. We really don't have any bad comments. If I did mention the minor details I would just be whinging for the sake of it! Yes the rooms were smaller than I've stayed in before but we were only in there to shower and sleep. Yes there were lots of stairs and walking but that just helped shake off a little of all the good food. Yes the drinks were a little on the weak side but that just meant no hang overs or roudy guests. See, minor details! The resort was spotless and the staff/entertainment crew were what made the beautiful setting a holiday to remember! The kids loved kids club and the zoo. Would 100% go back and recomend to others. Thanks P.O.P we love you. Nikki Kristen Daemyn and Liam xxx
