“Quaint little fishing village”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Good for photo ops, browsing in a few shops, lunch/dinner on the beach. Don't miss the fish tacos. We enjoyed La Cabana, El Dorado and El Coral restaurants.

“Mexico "Lite" beach with good to great paddle board/surfing”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

El Anclote sits at the entry to the private Punta Mita resort which is home to the Four Seasons and St. Regis resorts as well as various massive villa-style beach homes. Once a local fishing village, El Anclote is now the low to mid-budget location at the mouth of the Punta Mita penninsula. The small town is notable for the various restaurants that line a nice beachfront, the fisherman and boats who shuttle visitors out to snorkel, surf at nearby boat-in surf breaks, and for the gentle rolling surf that at times can break for hundred of yards.

Easily accessible for Puerto Vallarta (40 min) and Sayulita (20 minutes), El Anclote, if you hit it right, has terrific beginner surf conditions which are always ideal for paddle boarders and sometimes reward longboarders as well. Definitely worth a visit if you'd like a glimpse of old-time beachside Mexico with the joy of the waves nearby.

“over rated punta mita”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

be carful if you are considering staying here. Do your research as you could be very dissapointed like we were. Food was average, beaches are nothing special and the town is dirty and overpriced.
