We stayed at La Quinta for four nights right after New Years. We absolutely LOVED it! I originally found out about the hotel on Trip Advisor and chose to book it because of the great reviews and am so happy I did.

We wanted to be close to some surf beaches on this trip, so spent a few days in Sayulita before heading to Punta de Mita. Mita is VERY quiet and laid back compared to Sayulita so it was a nice relaxing break before heading back to Canada. La Quinta is in a great location - short walk to restaurants, convenience stores, etc. and right across the street from the beach. Walk about 5-10 minutes down the beach though, past all the condos - it's quieter down there and the sand is nicer and less rocky.

We had a great room on the upper level (although there is no such thing as a "bad" room here!). The bed was very comfortable, kitchen well-stocked, and the housekeeper, Docinda, keeps everything absolutely spotless. We loved having the kitchen as well as the BBQ on the rooftop patio - we made most of our own meals at the hotel. The patio is an awesome sunset-watching spot, and would also be great for throwing a party, as it has everything you need - BBQ, fridge, water, dishes, cutlery, etc.

We went surfing almost every day and Tanya and Anibal (the managers) were very accommodating. They drove us to a fantastic surf beach and rented surfboards to us for very little cost (at least compared to what we paid in Sayulita and were quoted by surf shops in Punta de Mita) and they even provide beach towels, umbrellas, etc. for free. They were also very helpful in providing transportation to/from the airport and between Sayulita and Mita (and they are much more affordable than taxis or any other shuttle services). There were a couple of minor mixups, involving our airport pickup and hotel room key, but they very quickly took care of it and made sure we were well taken care of. They are also so much fun to hang out with!

If we ever make it back to this area, I won't even consider staying anywhere else!

To sum it all up: THIS PLACE IS BEYOND AWESOME! First of all every single room has a beach view, which is right across the street. There are only 7 rooms each equally incredible with a fully functional kitchen. The service is friendly but not imposing. There is a rooftop patio with hammocks, lounge chairs, and extra spaces for sitting and dining. The hotel offers: shuttle services to neighboring towns; surfboard and boogie board rentals; beach towels - chairs - snorkeling gear; BBQ; reservation services to all attractions (the whale watching/snorkeling at Marieta Island is a MUST); etc. We stayed for 3 weeks and never wished we'd booked elsewhere and could have stayed forever!

The 40 miles from PV to Punta de Mita takes about 45-50 min. to traverse by road, but this lesser known area (Emiliano Zapato and Playa Ancolote) is a great alternative to the "big box" resorts of PV and Mita. Make sure you get good directions to this little hideaway, there's not a lot of street signage. Once inside, it's like staying at your friends' super cool beach house. The spacious rooms are stylish and immaculate. Really nice linens, pretty unusual for a small Mex hotel. They have little kitchenettes stocked with everything you need. The hotel hosts, Tanya and Anibel, speak perfect English and can help you arrange activities with their local connections. The hotel is popular with surfers and you can take boats to some good breaks and out to nearby islands (we saw some humpbacks and blue footed boobies). The hotel is across the street from the beach with an easy little trail down to the sand.

We stayed for two nights with our three children and loved it. The rooms were very clean, nicely furnished and the rooftop patio (available to all guests) is fabulous. Hosts Annibel and Tanya were very friendly and accomodating. We were even greeted with a cold beer upon arrival! The hotel is just off the very quiet street (maybe a car an hour if you're lucky) and has immediate access to a very nice beach. The only cautionary note about that particular beach,is that the town has recently put in a waste treatment plant down the road (you don't see it at all from the hotel) and I understand that during a big rain, sometimes the sewage can spill out to the water in that area. You may want to check with the hosts about further details. (on that note we realized that in most towns the tourists really have no idea where the sewage goes out to sea and whether or not it is treated...we just happened to find out about this one from a "local tourist". at least we know this town does treat the sewage first)
Punta De Mita is a great little town if you're wanting a get away that's not touristy or gliltzy. Lots of fabulous beaches around (bring a car) and great boogie boarding and surfing. Some excellent restaurants on the restaurant strip...our favourite and a must do if you like excellent seafood, lights in palm trees and your feet in the sand while dining on the beach was "Las Margaritas".

We didn't want to leave! Our hosts Tonya and Hanibal were wonderful and welcoming, Our "guides" Valerie and Momo were so friendly and great to talk to as well. We all felt so comfortable and relaxed. The rooftop deck was the perfect spot to relax alone or party with the group. The sound of the ocean made it a great night's sleep! This is the perfect spot for a gathering, whether it be friends or family. It's also a mellow spot for a solo or romantic getaway! Very very reasonable and safe!

We booked all the rooms in this small-medium sized hotel for a friend's birthday celebration and couldn't have asked for friendlier service. I'll post pictures of the room when I get them downloaded. They do not have a pool but the path to the beach is directly across the street and the rooms have air-conditioning, and small kitchenettes. The shower is large, no tub and rooms have daily maid service.

You are a three-five minute walk from all restaurants, shops & ATM. Right across the street from the beach and condo buildings - El Faro 1 & 2 and El Farito. We had friends staying in both and spent lots of time at their pools. NOTE: LA QUINTA DEL SOL HAS NO POOL. Just clarifying.

We had a party on the rooftop deck one night and the hotel managers decorated it and put up lights - it was very festive and fun. They were amazing hosts and provided music equipment, birthday cupcakes and set up a bar. We had caterers provide the food.

We probably got a group rate ($60/night) and they had a shuttle at the airport to pick us up which costs an additional $25/person but was far cheaper then a taxi ride. Tanya & Hannibal were perfect hosts, besides managing the hotel she does massage and he helped behind the bar when we filled a restaurant across the street. This is off-season and it was a great time to be down here - no crowds and lots of sun.

Punta Mita is pretty quiet, not very developed with normal beach bars and good beaches and surf. El Dorado had great pancakes for breakfast and Cafe de Artist was the most upscale restaurant on the beach with a really nice deck/terrace and fresh seafood.

Wonderful place. Right across the street from the beach and just far enough from the main drag (about 2 blocks) to avoid the hassle, traffic, and noise of the weekend crowds. The hotel is clean, and affordable, with kitchenettes in the rooms, and a stunning roof deck with hammocks and lounge chairs that overlook the entire Bay of Banderas. I've been there a couple of times now and it's one of my favorites on the coast.
