We have a rule to never visit the same hotel twice; there are so many places to go and we want to see them all. On our first visit to Casa De Mita we were driven from the airport by the hotel-arranged private car, not fully knowing what to expect, on a 40 minute ride to the hotel. The road changed from 4 lanes, to two, and then to dirt. We pulled up to a wide wooden door that opened into Paradise. We have now been to CLB 7 times. So much for rules; it gets better every time. Located 28 miles north-west from Puerto Vallarta and just 5 minutes up the coast from the town of Punta de Mita, Casa De Mita is perfectly situated on a half-mile long stretch of ocean beach amidst a small collection of private homes. On holidays and weekends you can see the locals on the beach, on many other days you’re pretty much alone. The Hotel’s service is flawless; the staff is unchanging, outgoing, and customer oriented. We know them all by name. The meals and bar are pretty much whatever you need; if you want it different, just ask...that is if they didn’t already notice what you needed. The food is good enough that dinner guests from the nearby Four Seasons are a common sight. The rooms and resort area are beautifully crafted and decorated, each room different and unique. We have our favorite rooms but I won’t spoil the surprise as we love them all. The social nature of the inn is maybe one of the more amazing features. We’ve made new friends on almost every visit. Not that we didn’t want to be alone at this incredibly romantic place, but it always seems that we meet someone interesting at the swim-up bar or dining at the next table. On more than one occasion all of the guests pushed their tables together for dinner…not that we moved the tables ourselves as the staff would set them up any way you want faster than you can ask. If you need to get away and visit the nearby towns, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, or PVR itself, a car is available for your use. But we seldom leave anymore, preferring to lounge by the beach or pool, swim in the ocean, or walk to the far end of the beach and back. It is, for us, a get-a-way to look forward to.
