Hacienda De Los Santos

Certificate of Excellence

My husband and I flew down privately with some friends right into the Alamos airport, were picked up by the hotel, and treated to red carpet service for 4 nights in early February. The Hacienda is absolutely magical and the service is warm and attentive. We were welcomed back like family. If you simply want a getaway, this is it. I could stay within the walls of the hacienda for a week, just luxuriating in the ambiance. The little town of Alamos is charming, historic and walkable. There is a private movie theatre within the hotel with a huge selection of movies. There is a wonderful collection of art and antiques which are spread throughout, making for interesting exploration.
It is an absolutely wonderful destination resort.

Room Tip: Interior rooms are a little quieter. The hacienda is right in the village, so there are some noises...

We love Hacienda de Los Santos!!! We flew into Alamos with three other couples the weekend after the music festival. Since we have been visiting annually for the past seven years, we have come to know the friendly staff whom we adore! They are always cheerful and helpful. The food is always delicious All of our friends enjoy the trip so much that they always want to be included in the next year's trip...now we're thinking we might want to make two trips a year to accommodate all of our friends who have visited with us.
It's a magical place. It's a feast for the eyes. The care and attention is evident at every turn. They serve the best margaritas we have ever had. The tequila tasting has to be experienced. There are so many reasons we keep coming back, it's a happy place for us.

Room Tip: Each room is beautifully decorated and has it's own unique character. We like to stay in diffe...

My husband and I recently enjoyed our 7th annual visit to the Hacienda, this time with 3 other couples. Our first visit was magical. The amazing beauty and comfort of the Hacienda along with the warmth of the hosts and staff made it what we thought was a once in a lifetime trip. Since then we've been fortunate enough to return 6 more times and despite that lofty first experience, have never disappointed. In fact, it just keeps getting better. New decorative touches are constantly being added. I've taken over 500 pictures and still find new things to delight the eye. Each visit, the Swickards and their staff spoil us with their activities and service. We've seen the same staff members every year and I'm always surprised that they remember us and seem genuinely happy to see us again.

While the Hacienda is a destination in itself, the town of Alamos is beautiful too and safe. If you're considering a visit at all, I say go for it!!

Room Tip: Santa Barbara is my favorite, but you absolutely cannot go wrong with any of the rooms.

My husband and I flew our plane down to Alamos with a group of pilots in November 2012 and had the most wonderful time. Our plane was safely tucked away in their hangar. The hospitality of the staff and owners, the Swickerts was so warm and genuine. They had organized tours, cooking classes, horseback riding, etc. for our group. The grounds are stunning, the rooms were so beautifully appointed. Our room was the largest room I have ever stayed in! The food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return to the Hacienda De Los Santos. I would rate our stay as a 10!

A group of 5 couples, we shared 5 of the 7 charming B/B courtyard rooms. All rooms were v. well appointed w/ much space, King bed or 2 doubles, a working fireplace, fridge in some, large complete washroom facilities.
The common area was equally well appointed w/ a lap pool, various sitting areas & a large fireplace. The greenery was lush & gave it a warm over-all feeling.
At the table for 10 for dinner in the adjoining Hacienda de los Santos restaurant, we were greeted by the owner's beautiful & personable daughter Jamie/events co-ordinator & were
very well served by the fully binlingual Christian! The meal was much enjoyed by everyone!
We went during the Music Festival but - we would be happy to go back, just to enjoy both of
these first class Mexican facilities.

Room Tip: Two rooms had a queen only but one of those had a lrg more private sitting area. All rooms are well...

The Hacienda de los Santos is a special place, the Best of the Best in Alamos, an enchanting northern Mexican Colonial town. This safe pueblo in the Sierra Madre foothills is a real jewel. Alamos is a ten hour drive from Tucson but worth the effort. General aviation pilots can land on a well-maintained airstrip at the edge of town and park in the Hacienda’s large hangar (contact the hotel directly for pilot events and discounts). I am on the road often twenty days a month on business and can say the Hacienda de los Santos is one of the nicest hotels I have ever enjoyed! It often appears on lists of the best small hotels in the world. The landscaping is breathtaking, the three swimming pools feel private; the staff is attentive, warm and cordial. Each of the 23 rooms, designed with great care by the US ex-pat owners, is a unique collection of décor and comforts such as fireplaces. The food is very good and fairly priced. Don’t miss the bar that has hundreds of different tequilas. The town is home to festivals and cultural events. This week we attended a music festival that featured both local and world class acts. There was opera, classical, rock, tango and other styles of music on various stages around town. My favorite event was a 20 member troubadour group which escorted Gaspar, a wine-jug toting donkey, on his evening stroll through the cobbled streets dispersing sips to the conga line of revelers that fell in behind. I can’t say enough about this enchanting town and the Hacienda that gives you such a gracious home there.

We spent the weekend of January 25-27th at the Hacienda. It was the opening weekend of the Music Festival. What an absolutely incredible experience!!! From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of. The festival was glorious, the Hacienda was a true respite from the "fray in all the US". We relaxed, enjoyed old world ambiance and hospitality. It is as if you are staying with an old friend. The festival was amazing, I do not know how to describe it. The musicians, the town, the people. You must do it! Then when you want a little peace, heaven is there in the Hacienda...Go do not wait!

Room Tip: All are unique with their own history. We have stayed in 4 different rooms and Love them all..go enj...

Hacienda de los Santos Resort & Spa is comprised of 18th century mansions and a 17th century Sugar Mill. A portion of the resort is on the original 19th century Mint for northern Mexico. The setting is in the lower Sierra Madre in the village of Alamos which is a National Monument and a national 'Pueblo Magico'. Today with modern conveniences taken to a luxury level, all suites have large screen T.V.'s discretely hidden in antique cabinetry, plus many with antique furnishings, art of prominent Mexican artists and all suites and Hacienda Guest Rooms have at least one fireplace, as well as air conditioning and forced air heat for year around comfort. There is a Andalusian stone theater with state of the art projection and sound systems, a complete library of top films for your viewing enjoyment during the day or evening. Also, two putting greens, four pools, numerous fountains, two restaurants plus a third which is the 'restaurant with a view' from the roof-top which is accessible by elevator for groups of up to 35. Also, there is a full service spa and special classes for group bookings such as cooking, art, architecture, tequila and area tours. The use of the theater, putting greens, parking, room service and mountain bikes is all complimentary for our registered guests. A 19th century 'Zapata's Cantina is a major attraction and nightly live guitar music, in the adjacent 'Santiago's Restaurant, for your dining enjoyment. No 'prepared food' is used in either of the Hacienda's restaurants. The cuisine includes 'Sonora Mexican', plus what most describe as the 'best filet mignon in the world', and a variety of International dishes. The luncheon menu includes a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches and excellent desserts. The owner's have been very pleased to have received a humanitarian award by the Governor's of Sonora and Arizona (Gov. Bours & Gov.
