Back in December, i stayed in Ciudad Obregon and drove to Alamos for a couple of days and i do not regret it. It seems as if this magical colonial town couldnt not get any better until you step into the Hacienda. It was so beautiful to me and i could not stop taking pictures. While you stay here (which i reccomend) do not be afraid of taking walks in the town or even exploring more of the state of Sonora. Safety here is certainly not an issue as these concerns only apply to certain areas of Mexico. I have not once felt in danger here. i totally reccomend it!!

Definitely has a beauty and charm! The staff are all very nice and depending on when you go (we went with my husband in October) there could be very few people there and feel like you have the place all to yourself. All the decor and furniture and very tasteful and they have kept and incorporated a lot of colonial architecture. The rooms are lovely and the bathrooms spacious. The pools are nice, though not heated, but depending when you go that should not be an issue. You can have dinner and movie, right there on their property. For breakfast, they serve you a delicious home-made mango jam! It was a relaxing weekend away in a cute little, historic town!

We recently stayed at this gorgeous, peaceful hotel/spa for 5 days. Before going to mexico,we were concerned about reports of violence there. However any concerns we may have had were unfounded once we arrived in Alamos. After receiving a warm welcome by the hosts and their staff, they constantly went out of their way to make us feel very special. The dining room (w/a talented guitarist) was sophisticated yet comfortable. The meals were delicious. This hotel has a collection of beautiful SANTOS from all over Latin America equal to that of a great museum! We will definitely return for such graciousness and pampering. Bringing your camera to remember this jewel is a must!

Room Tip: The rooms were unique, immaculate and beautifully appointed with filtered water. There are 3 pools on...

Just back from a wonderful Pilotos Reunion at Santos. Many friends that we have made by attending the reunions and visits on our own were in attendance. We always feel as if we have come home when we land at the airport less the stress, hassles and everyday interruptions of life. Exceptional staff and attention to detail are at the forefront of ones stay. Your greeted as family and treated as if your a diplomat. Relax by the pool, read a book, watch a movie in the theater or even connect through wifi to the outside if necessary. Feast on food as if your in the best five star restaurant or have your meal in your room. You choose the level of interaction with anyone. If you have not been put it on your list. I've walked the areas through town and feel just as safe as if I am home. This is mexico as you believe it should be, Alamos is a beautiful Colonial Mexico town, friendly and safe.

Wow! When one explores outside the usual tourist hot spots of a country you don't expect to find a place of such beauty, grace and charm at such a high scale. Stunning property with excellent service and a lot of history. Well worth a detour or anlong jouney to get to.

The suites, food and staff were wonderful. The town is charming and my only regrets are that I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, and I should have stayed another day or three. This was an amazing experience. I hope to return at least once again in my lifetime.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hacienda de los Santos Resort & Spa is comprised of 18th century mansions and a 17th century Sugar Mill. An extensive restoration and renovation took the owner's nearly 25 years to complete with more than one million man hours of hand labor with the same techniques as two hundred years ago. A portion of the resort is on the original 19th century Mint for northern Mexico. The setting is in the lower Sierra Madre in the village of Alamos which is a National Monument and a national 'Pueblo Magico'. Today with modern conveniences taken to a luxury level, all suites have large screen T.V.'s discretely hidden in antique cabinetry, plus many with antique furnishings, art of prominent Mexican artists and all suites and Hacienda Guest Rooms have at least one fireplace, as well as air conditioning and forced air heat for year around comfort. There is a Andalusian stone theater with state of the art projection and sound systems, a complete library of top films for your viewing enjoyment during the day or evening. Also, two putting greens, four pools, numerous fountains, two restaurants plus a third which is the 'restaurant with a view' from the roof-top which is accessible by elevator for groups of up to 35. Also, there is a full service spa and special classes for group bookings such as cooking, art, architecture, tequila and area tours. The use of the theater, putting greens, parking, room service and mountain bikes is all complimentary for our registered guests. A 19th century 'Zapata's Cantina is a major attraction and nightly live guitar music, in the adjacent 'Santiago's Restaurant, for your dining enjoyment. No 'prepared food' is used in either of the Hacienda's restaurants. The cuisine includes 'Sonora Mexican', plus what most describe as the 'best filet mignon in the world', and a variety of International dishes. The luncheon menu includes a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches and excellent desserts. The owner's have been very pleased to have received a humanitarian award by the Governor's of Sonora and Arizona (Gov. Bours & Gov. Janet Napolitano) for their accomplishments in the village of Alamos. The resort has received a AAA Four Diamond rating for 15 consecutive years, is both a Fodor's Choice and Trip Advisor Traveler's Choice. Due to the 'Hacienda's' historic significance it is also a member of 'Historic Hotels Worldwide'. The resort was the site of an Endemol television series produced for Europe and was used in filming the 175 episode Televisa series of 'La Fuerza del Destino'. The resort also owns a high capacity hangar at the local airport which can be used for group events of up to 700 people with its complete commercial kitchen, pilot's lounge and other facilities. The airport (XALA) has a paved 5,000' runway and approved for aircraft up to and including the Falcon 20 and Lear 45.
