“VERY WORTH IT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

I have been to this hotel 4 times now, the first time was ok, but since the second time it has improved, a lot!, the rooms are remodeled and painted, the rooms are not the same.
They DO have a climatized pool, a beautiful spa with awesome massages, a cozy bar, and a restaurant with a view towards the town.
There is a lot of vegetation, and it is also one of the first hotels in Valle de Bravo.
The rooms are a bit small but its worth it for the magnificent experience you will have, all the rooms have a fire place so if you are traveling as a couple and during winter, you can have a romantic night next to your partner in front of a warm fireplace.

This hotel is charging for the most simple room 150 USD. Paying that price you expect at least phones in the room, changes of towels, windows that can be opened, a nice pool...But no...you don´t have that. The hotel facilities are kind of forgotten, the rooms are old.....I wouldn´t recommend it. There are many other hotels that are much near to the center, cheaper and better. Don´t stay in Lotu Azul! Not worth it!

We´ve been staying in this hotel for the last 10 years. In this New Year´s Eve holiday, the pool was freezing, the steam bath wasn´t running, the jacuzzi was gone, and the Spa manager managed to spoil my massage by saying "hey, it took my boy quite a long time to do you.." To what end? Just to manipulate me to give the masseur a huge tip, as we got our massage with a discount as a compensation for the steam bath not running. Typical -and nasty-- old-style central Mexico indirect way of asking for money.

Also, I´ve never seen an owner so careless: he was staying there, was wondering about, and all he did was to greet guests; he didn´t give a damm when I mentioned the freezing pool temperature, as well as the unoperational spa. All he seemed to care for, was to cater for a lady who, as I later learned, was the newly appointed manager, who was equally careless until next Monday, her official start up date, when she made a lot of promises.

On the bright side, they upgraded the restaurant, subcontracting the Da Ciro staff (a local restaurant) who were efficient and offered very nice dishes. I hope they´ll last.

As for the rooms, they continue to be in the same condition: clean, rustic, wooden...no complaint here. The surrounding gardens were also well kept.

In the front desk, Miriam, a comitted employee who has been there for at least 10 years, was as helpful and efficient as always, solving problems -- it´s a pity she´s being overloooked by the owner.

Given the nice grounds -- cabins embedded in a hill, surrounded by tall trees -- and facilities, I can only hope the new manager does her job.

Room Tip: Ask for suite # 40, very spacious and nice.
