Hotel Quinto Sol
Reviewed February 5, 2013

This hotel is like none other. Some rooms have a balcony where you could have a party for 25 persons. Without being cramped. Be sure to request a room with this balcony. By the way, it faces the pool which makes for great entertainment. (but not in January when it is cold).
We ate 3 times at the hotel restaurant and were really happy with the food. Not too expensive and very good.
This hotel is about 1 km from the pyramids which means you could probably walk there but, since we didn't walk, I'm not sure I would recommend it.
The staff is friendly and competent.
The rooms are spacious and very clean. All we had asked for was there. I have no problems recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor facing the pool.

My wife and I had a great time. We walked to the piramids in about 25 minutes from the hotel. We did this 3 times! They were awesome. We only stayed a week and did a few tours. Tipping is a major in Mexico. Be sure to tip well and you will be taken care of. The hotel rooms were exceptionally clean and so were the grounds. The lack of english speaking employees made things difficult at times.

the best deal for the money
excellent quality service together with a very competitive rate obatined through hoteles.com
the major points: cleanness, couyrtesy, safety, closeness to the pyramids (archeological sites) very good deal
only drawback, breakfast not included in the rate, breakfast buffet option available only on week ends

Came here after a week in Puebla and a day in Mexico City with a volunteer group. Of all the hotels I've stayed in on my trip, Quinto Sol was where I had my best experience. Conveniently near the Pyramids by Gate 1 which is a 5 minute taxi drive away (you could probably walk to it in 15 minutes..depending how fast you walk!). If you get up early (7-8am) you could catch the hot air balloons taking off over the pyramids, or better yet ride one yourself! I took advantage of the nearness to the site and visited twice! It takes about an hour to ride into Mexico City (by bus or taxi.) Other than the Pyramids there really isn;t much else to see or do around here, which is pretty much the country side. there is a bus station a walk away from the hotel for anyone interested in taking a day trip to Mexico City (which I highly recommend if you haven't already had enough). Very clean and safe (the bus station as well as the hotel location).

Rooms: clean and spacious, complete with blowdryer and safe, garden/pool view, and very strong wifi signal. Well worth the price i paid (about $48/night plus tax, at the time).

Staff: Friendly and helpful! Enrique, who was the manager there made me feel very comfortable and taken care of when he learned i was traveling on my own the 3 days I stayed at the hotel.

Food: I would recommend eating out! food was ok. If you want basic American food then this is a good place to start, but the street vendors and local restaurants have better tasting and more affordable (well worth the effort) authentic Mexican Food. I would recommend walking down the street leading toward Gate 2 for a mid/early afternoon lunch fix!

Accessibility: Like a said, its pretty close to the pyramid Gate 1. And a walk away from the bus station if you get bored and want to venture back to the city (less than an 1 hour ride away, if you avoid rush hour) to explore Chapultepec, Zona Rosa, etc.. I strongly recommend taking a taxi back to the airport in Mex City though. The buses at the station just stop at the Central Bus Station in Mex City. So just save yourself the hassle of switching transporation mode. This costs anywhere from 550-650 pesos (about $45-$55) just fyi, so don't let the hotel or drivers hustle you unless you are feeling generous.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the garden/pool side to avoid the street side noise, and for a great sunri...

We stayed here for one night on a whistle-stop trip to Teotihuacan.

Firstly, be warned: the blurb says it is right outside the gate to the ruins, which is true BUT it is a private gate so you still have to take a cab to the ruins entrance.
The hotel is friendly enough and spotlessly clean. The rooms are nice and big but ask for a room facing the pool otherwise the trucks passing on the road outside are really noisy and will keep you awake. There are six pool-facing rooms with balconies so ask for one of those if you can.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening and my partner got severe food poisoning which almost stopped us visiting the pyramids next morning.

The pool is small but refreshing. Check out is 1pm which is great, and they will allow you to stay until 2pm at no charge which is handy if you want to see the ruins, get back, shower, change and head off to your next destination.

Great location, within walking distant of downtown, staff very nice, but, bathroom is too small. Would stay again and would recommend to family and friends.
