After being 5 hours at the Teotihuacan archeological site, we decided to go have a bite at 'La Gruta'. Before going on my vacation, a colleague had told me about the restaurant, and I put it on the must visit list.
Well let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Service was fast, the food was delicious and the ambiance was spectacular.
I had a Frozen Virgin Tamarind Margarita that was to die for, especially after being in the sun for 5 hours.

You should definitely put this on your list if you plan on visiting the Teotihuacan archeological site.

We had the most amazing experience having dinner in a cave. We were treated so well by the Resturant staff. It was a little chilly when you first walk down into the cave itself but after you start eating you quickly acclimate. I would give the food a B for taste and presentation. A+ for its picturesque charm.

The ambiance was great as was the service. La Gruta is behind gate #5 and can be reached walking after a great day at Teotihuacan. The food was tasty and interesting since it had names typical of the region. I would recommend going for the food and ambiance - located within a cave of all places!. Service was great.

My wife and I have eaten here before, we ate dinner here on June 6 & 7, 2016, and we'll eat here again. Fabulous.

As you may know, this restaurant opened in 1906. And while it is popular with the tourists who visit the nearby archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, it is not a tourist trap. The food and drinks are delicious. The service is uneven. On June 6, our server was César, and he was fabulous. On June 7, our server was so-so, and I even forgot his name. The difference? On June 6, we visited during an off-hour, and the restaurant had few guests. On June 7, we went during the afternoon, when the tour buses from Mexico City arrive, and the server was distracted by a large tour group. The service should be the same at all times. but it isn't.
