We arrived in town and looked for a place. I checked several and this was N$300, which was quite reasonable. The room had a lovely courtyard, was on the painted zocalo (where they were doing the dance on the old men). It was clean, comfortable and quiet.
There is a portico where vendors set up in the evening and there are great impanadas, coffee and tacos available. Folk were playing chess and visiting. There is also a resturaunt at the hotel. We used it as our base of operation for the entire trip. There was also secured parking about 2 blocks away included in the price of the room.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The desk staff spoke enough English to make up for my poor Spanish. We are looking forward to our next trip to Michoacan and hope to stay longer this time. 10 days is not enough.More
