A very nice restaurant to have a cup of coffee or a meal. A lot of great options to eat.

This is our fourth trip to Pattzcuaro, and La Surtidora very quickly became our favorite place to eat. Their prices are lower than the other restaurants in town and the quality is very consistent. Their one disadvantage is they do not take debit/credit cards. If you look around town, most every restaurant is empty (never a good sign) while La Surtidora is full - with both locals and lucky tourists. The wait staff is professional, you never get rushed, and they are patient with fractured Spanish. Arrachera del Norte (a steak served sizzling hot) is excellent value at $100MXN and very tender (order it rojo or media for best results). Tacos Dorados are a great snack for two, and the naranjada (orangeade, no sugar) is a wonderful way to hydrate after a bout of shopping. They are also probably the only place in town you can get Te Helado - unsweetened iced tea. Chamorro Santa Clara is roasted pork shank covered in guajillo chile sauce, served with a baked potato smothered in creamed corn and ham bits. Yum.

We ate lunch here twice over three days. We loved the regional food here - specifically the Sopa Turasco, stuffed enchiladas, the trucha salmonada (pink trout) and an appetizer dish of cheese and fruit. Occasional strolling singers came by and wanted tips after playing (one was pretty bad and the other was so good we bought his CD). Service was efficient. Even the bread was better than most that we have had in Mexico.

This was the best place for any meal! The prices were great, the food was magnificent, and many of the waiters spoke very good English and were able to tell us a lot about the area. We ended up here every day at some point, even in the evening just to have a coffee on the patio. Wonderful staff, fabulous menu and the coffee was the best ever!! Looking forward to returning!
