If you're lucky enough to visit Patzcuaro this is a must-see venue. The area around Patzcuaro has varied and quality handicrafts and these are best exposed at the Casa. The prices are upwards but then so is the quality. I'd say the copper work is especially rare and good, but so is the woodcarving. The Pur'hepecha (or Tarascans) people of the region are quite reserved (though parties can be raucous) and take great pride in their handicrafts and the natural beauty of the area. The vendors are relaxed and the site very pretty, it makes for a wonderful half-day visit, after which you can delve into some fine foods at the Plaza Quiroga.
